Skills -- you generally need a college degree. Civil engineers might spend time reading blueprints or putting together models.
Still needed -- you betcha -- there will always be roads and bridges being built.
Annual salary -- depends on where you live and who you work for, but people in difficult jobs (and civil engineering is definitely one) tend to make more than the average. But again it depends.
