Not really imo. Those were criminal charges. It doesn't mean that no taxes are due at all. Interesting case though. I want to be paid in silver & gold and claim the income at the face value Laughing

well, saddlebags might just be making a comeback.

i would like to learn of the genesis of this method of payment in this situation, it looks like somebody smart read the law very carefully. clearly the jurors bought into it.

That is the problem. I wish I could have sat in that court room to listen to everything.
The jurors heads must have been spinning and they were probably thinking HUH?

Does that mean that whenever
a citizen defeats the IRS in court,
the jurors heads must have been spinning ??
otherwise, the IRA wud WIN ?

The "citizen" probably just sat there for all I know. The attorneys and their so called "experts" are the ones who usually talk to the jury. Most people imo don't even know how to do their own taxes so, the jurors probably imo wouldn't have a clue on what was being said where taxes are concerned. I haven't followed the case. I just briefly saw it is all.

If that is true,
that the finders of fact do not understand the presentations,
then the prosecution has not succeeded in proving its case,
and the defendant is entitled to win.

I agree with you. I also feel, that a jury wouldn't want to find someone guilty of enough criminal charges that would put someone in a Federal Prison for the rest of their life over taxes. You can kill someone and get less time in prison. That doesn't follow the law and emotions aren't part of the equation but, people have emotions and they do tend to get in the way. I can't "prove" any of this. It is just how I feel.
