Welcome home, danon!

It's good to see you're back and safe.

I got the clicks going in a cool routine, so it all worked smoothly (after the first round  ).

I look forward to seeing the photos.

(which reminds me that I need to post a link to the thread about Penny the hamster, and what she's been doing while she's visiting Toronto)

G'day all!

It got cold here in the last couple of days. What a surprise - from sandals to polar fleece in 48 hours. I'd have jet lag if I could.

Here is a pic of the Viking Rune stone in Oklahoma =

Here we are at Sun Studio in Memphis, TN - this is my friend Janet from CA and I don't know who the guy is. He wouldn't move. Janet is standing on the floor marker where Elvis sang his songs. =

Here is Janet with the actual mike that Elvis used =

After Sun Studio we visited Graceland =

Elvis decorated the house - here is the living room - it got really tackier after this. He should have hired a decorator. =

On the grounds at Graceland - his resting place. =

After Memphis, we went to Pensacola, FL. This is a pic of my friend Jim (Janet's husband) standing in front of the very first airplane to cross the Atlantic ocean - with TWO people on board. Lucky Lindy was the first much later to cross alone. This airplane crossed in the late teens. Lindburg was in the late 20's. =

Back home the day before they left, we went to nearby Shreveport, LA - this is a pic of Janet standing in front of the building that hosted the Louisiana Hayride (the Grand Ole Opry of the south) where Elvis played and the phrase, "Elvis has left the building." was first spoken. =

I almost forgot to include this one from the Graceland tour - self explanatory. =

Good clicking to all - and have a good night.

The Vikings were some of the best sailors on earth. They went to what is now Iceland from Scandinavia - a long sail. Then - a much shorter sail took them to Greenland. Only a very short hop skip and jump put them on N. American soil. Their method of exploration was to take what appeared to be major waterways and in doing so they would continue to take other major looking waterways as long as possible - the turns would all be in the same direction - mostly LEFT going, so the return would be easier - RIGHT. Sometimes they would keep going until they ran out of water and after some exploration would carry their ship over land to another river and follow that one down stream. In the case of the OK runestone they started up the Mississippi river - turned LEFT into the Arkansas river - then another LEFT into the Poteau river. They obviously stopped often to hunt for food and at what is now Heavener, OK they stopped. The scribe saw a large flat stone standing upright in a small valley that looked for all purposes to be a billboard - he couldn't resist and started to carve runes. There are five others in the same area found so far - all in a straight line but far apart - indicating some exploration attempt.
There is evidence of Viking activity all around Hudson Bay in Canada. Down the Red River from Lake Winnipeg - in Minnesota at Kensington was found a runestone many years ago.

I couldn't reply, without clicking first! All clicked, now. Almost got blown down today, with a hard wind blowing in from the ocean! It was raining lightly, but was icy! 35 degrees this morning! It snowed in North Jersey, where the mountains are!

Put up the Christmas tree and my village, today. Putting up my dollhouse from the 50's, tomorrow. I'm really excited. My village has a gazebo, a lighthouse, a one room schoolhouse a Cathedral and an old mill! I have a miniature jazz band, on a fake ice rink, 4 street corner singers, people shopping, trees, snowmen, 2 street signs, 2 American Flags, kids on sleds and a miniature train. It's the world I dream of; the town called "Perfect"!
My tree is a tabletop version, for high rise dwellers, like me, but it is decorated with Fleur de Lis, Pelicans and all things, New Orleans. Can't be there, so I brought my home, here!

My dining room is decorated in Fall decor, for Thanksgiving, but because of my schedule, now is the only time I can "do" Christmas! I bought Christmas gifts for my auxiliary friends, in late summer, (August), so that I don't forget anyone. My gifts aren't expensive, they're just thoughtful. I love the look on someone's face when they get one of my unexpected gifts. I always say, that these are the ones, I love getting, even if it only cost a couple of bucks!

I'm cooking for homeless veterans on 11/30. This will be my second year. My Legion Post, will be donating, long johns, hats, gloves, hooded sweats and toilet items, to the Veterans who reside at Lyons Hospital, here, in NJ. Back in 95', when I was President of my Unit, the veterans from Veterans Haven, the first residence for homeless veterans, visited my post and we did the same thing; huge dinner and gifts and money, for personal items.
I found a thank you letter, from one of the men and had a moment of remembrance, warm and fuzzy. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
