Is the Sears Water Softener a good choice? I'd like to know what some owners and experts think.
They and the Whirlpool, GE, mortonsalt.com and North Star are made by Ecowater and share the same control valve and tanks. They last service free on average from 2-5 years. The parts prices are very expensive for what they are. After 20 years of selling and servicing water treatment equipment, and replacing many Kenmore etc. softeners, you'll do much better with a correctly sized softener with a Clack WS-1 control valve and....
If you don't want to be treated like a spore that grows into a mushroom after being kept in the dark and fed BS and then end up being totally dependent on a local dealer....
Learn all there is to know about softeners and then buy one online and install it yourself or hire a plumber to do it and you'll save hundreds to thousands of dollars and get equal or better quality and you'll be able to repair it yourself with much less expensive parts you can buy online or from a local dealer of your choice.
The Sears unit is not bad for the price.
North Star is a step up and EcoWater is the best available.
If you purchase drop shipped H2O equipment from a faceless online huckster be prepared to
be treated like a spore that grows into a mushroom after being kept in the dark and fed BS.
