America like Israel

America, like Israel, was created by Europeans through a genocide of the indigenous people. White settlers drove the American Indians off their ancestral land. If they fought, they were killed. Indians were confined to a few reservations. No thought was given to the rights of the Indians.

Whites believed that God wanted them to have the land. Until recent years, the Indian genocide was celebrated in Western movies, and never criticized in schools. Just as Indians were considered uncivilized heathens not deserving basic rights; so are the Palestinians. The parallels between the establishment of the American and Israeli states are many. The American genocide and enslavement of African people likewise has been insufficiently recognized, criticized, or corrected.

Racism thrives at a subconscious level in the vast majority of Americans' minds. Americans consider themselves and their country to be especially righteous and blessed by God. The Israeli Jews, of course, consider themselves the 'Chosen People'. The religious bigotry and tribalism inherent in this idea require no comment.

Many fundamentalist Christians are 'Friends of Israel'. They take the Book of Revelations in the New Testament very seriously. They believe that Christ's Second Coming to Earth will be preceded by the re-establishment of the Kingdom of Israel and a war over Israel. All the more reason for Protestants to help establish Israel and remain its 'friend'.

hi and welcome to a2k.

personally, i'm pretty tired of hearing "anti-semite!" yelled at everyone that doesn't agree with everything the israeli government does. that's a bunch of nonsense.

on the other hand, treating the israel-palestine, jew-arab-muslim thing that's been going on since forever as one sided (on either side) is pretty anti-semitic.

it's not like it isn't important, but the constant finger pointing is really irritating and won't ever lead to progress. israel and palestine should be working together to solve israel and palestine's collective issues. why don't you do something to help that happen, instead of making it more impossible with this one-sided garbage?

If somebody takes your house and settle, will you make deal with him?

Westerns are so ignorant and gullible that they allow the media to decieve them. Its always "a sucide bomber killed this many" and "violent palestinian boys throw rocks" but if we look at the bigger picture its a rock against a tank, apache helicopters, grenades and the list goes on. From this view it is quite simple to see the injustice.

USA and West are using all of their might's to oppress Arab people in particular and Muslims in general, it started since the beginning of last century when they supported the creation of Israel against Arab will?

Today Terrorism is defined by the American government as the threat or the use of violence to advance a political cause by individuals or groups, whether acting for or in opposition to established governmental authority, when such actions are intended to shock, stun, or intimidate a target group wider than the immediate victims. Actually such a general definition will include all wars of liberation from the American War of Independence to the French Revolution. The worst aspect and perhaps the most common feature of terrorism is the unleashing of violence against innocent civilians.

The State of Israel is the most recent example of the establishment of a state by terrorism. It was established by Jewish terrorist groups, the most infamous of which was the Stern Gang.

am i to understand a situation that's been going on for that long by looking at the most recent decade? you're arguing that what you're describing is ridiculous. it is. but it's ridiculous on two sides, let me rephrase your question so it's relevant to the real middle east crisis:

"if two people blow each other up, which one do you charge with murder?"

yes, well, the problem with almost any media covering israel-palestine is that it's going to cover it from one side or the other. it's either the israelis to blame or the palestinians to blame, depending on who you ask.

and we can always find someone (or a thousand!) to make the case against the other.

i see you've chosen the anti-israel side. how nice for you.

i'm just not "ignorant and gullible" enough to look at only half of the situation, not the media's half, not yours. enjoy your crusade, i'm going to go back to being ignorant and gullible and media spoonfed now.

Get real.

At some point you have to learn to live together. Face the reality, no one "owns" the land. We humans are just "renting" it.

People like you who cry anti semitism at every turn are keeping a wedge between people.

You and your friends need to figure out how to learn to live together.

My "people" have for the most part figured that out. While many still choose to live on the "reservation", I do not see Native Americans killing the "white" man today.

Maybe the Jews and the rest of the Middle East should look at how the Native Americans have figured this out and adopt it in your society and forget about your "religious" differences.

Remember, you do not own the land.

My biggest problem with the state of israel is the fact that it is almost entirely founded on religion. The constitution says it is a secular state but since you have to be jewish to live there I find the laws about secularism almost 'pro forma'.

Admittedly the situation is how it is but if I could go back in time I certainly would 'un do' the state of Israel. Almost seems the logic was something like: "Hey, so the Jews have been oppressed for some thousand years now, lets oppress some of them towel-heads instead!".

I really, really dislike decisions made on religious dogmas.

I think there are some parallels between what was done to natives here (and probably every former colony) and what was done/is being done in Israel. But there are vital differences as well. Aside from the racism inherent in the conflict between Europeans and native Americans was the fundamental disagreement about private property. In Palestine, everyone believed in the same basic rights of property -- some Palestinians to this day have deeds to property they are forbidden to possess. The problem is simply that they are not Jewish. If they were Jewish they could have kept their property. They are not, so they can not.

The Christian and Muslim citizens of Israel would be surprised to learn that they don't live there.

Hmm, awkwardly put by me I guess.

My point was that the state of Israel is anything but secular and that the decision of the government strongly favours Jews.
