THE DAY THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT 'LOST IT'

The day has officially come. George Dubya Bush has officially lost his mind (assuming he ever had one). His ramblings against the Democrats, against all forces opposed to his war in Iraq are proof that the man is not fit to serve in any public office. The following Reuters report is a must read for anyone that has doubts about what I am saying.... read especially the part about Nelson Mandela being dead...

Are you actually trying to say that he said that Nelson Mandella was ddead?

If you are, you need to learn comprehension.
It is quite clear that he was saying that any Iraqi that could assume a Mandella like role in Iraq was killed by Saddam.

And he is most likely correct.
He in no way said that Mandella himself was dead.

Also, what is wrong with what he said about the dems and moveon.org?
He was right about the dems SEEMING to be more worried about offending moveon.org instead of offending the military.

mystery man, this is an individual who takes pride in his incuriousness about the world; who never left the continental US until very late in his adult life - who is famous for his gaffes about the names of other heads of state.
So let me ask YOU - are you trying to say its unlikely that Bush thought Mandela was dead?

As much as it chokes me to say it, because christ knows the shrub is a massive friggin' halfwit, he wasn't saying Nelson Mandela is dead.

I am saying that it is unlikely to the point of impossible that Bush thought Mandella was dead.
His speechwriter would check that kind of fact first.

Apparently, you and a few others have never heard of a metaphor.

Since when is it required that someone running for President must have traveled outside of the continental US before running?

Possibly time to repeat a question I've asked Zippo two or three times in the past regarding his ultimate hero Adolf Hitler:

The problem I have understanding the history of nazi Germany is that Germans are supposed to be a superior intellectual race and Hitler was supposed to be some sort of an all-around genius. That makes several of the things you read about WW-II very hard to understand.

Hitler and the nazis had several very clear cut chances to win and, in fact, there are about a baker's dozen things Hitler could have done differently, any two or three of which would have won the war for him outright.

  • He could have simply not invaded Russia. The CCCP was on the edge of collapse in 37 - 39; he could have waited five years and picked up the pieces for free.
  • He could have started WW-II with the 300 ocean-going U-Boats which Doenitz wanted instead of spending money on pocket battleships.
  • He could have built medium-sized carriers like our Independance class to go out with the U-Boats and had fighter cover over the U-Boats so that escort ships could not attack them. A wolfpack with fighter cover could have sat there on the surface and sunk entire convoys.
  • He could have made Franco some sort of an offer he'd have been unable to refuse and gained control over Gibralter and the Med.
  • He could have entered the war with some sort of a modern rifle in his soldiers hands instead of Mausers. That was basically stupid.
  • He could have given the go-ahead for using the jet Messerschmidt as an area defense fighter in 39. Allied bombers would never have been able to fly over Germany had he done so.

There are a dozen or so others like that, like I say, doing any two or three of those things right would have won for him.

What about it, Zippo??? Got any answers for us at this point?

Breaking! Bush's speechwriters are scripting his press conference answers!

In fact, there isn't anything in Bush's statement to indicate whether or not he is aware whether or not Mandela is living or dead. It was an incredibly stupid attempt at a metaphor either way.

Since when is criticizing one person for lying offending all the military?

Criticizing him doesnt bother me at all.
It was the part where they called him "General BETRAY-US" that was out of line and wrong.
That is the part that should be condemned by the dems,IMHO.

Yes, Bush did make a stupid attempt at a metaphor, I wont argue that.
But, thats all it was, a metaphor.
He wasnt saying that Mandella himself was dead.

As far as zippo goes, all I have to say is this...
Shouldn't the cosmic stupidity hopper be empty by now?

While you can debate 'til the cows come whether it was out of line, it certainly wasn't wrong. You've been betrayed by a long line of military men mouthing lies for political leaders.

When you come to the odd honest one among them, he/she's offered "early retirement".

assuming bush betrayed our armed forces, and assuming he's a mouthpiece for bush, it's no insult to the armed forces that he's called that- it's fact.

You just contradicted yourself.

You started each statement with the word "assuming", meaning you didnt know if they were correct statements or not, then you say that both statements are "fact".

So,are they fact or not?
IMHO,no they are not fact.

it's not a contradiction at all:

1. IF bush betrayed the troops
2. AND he's just a mouthpiece for bush

3. THEN he betrayed the troops, and the name fits.

the phrase "if it is assumed" is a perfectly reasonable way to describe a logical premise. if it means that much to you, replace "assumed" with "if the first two are givens..." or if this must continue: "if the first two are facts, the conclusion is a fact."

it's actually not meant to "prove" anything, just show that it's possible to criticise one without it being against the troops. (which shouldn't need to be explained in the first place: criticising one isn't criticising them all.)
