I know it won't really affect my offspring down in Sydney, but if it does, can I claim a bit of a refund on the accommodation costs?

All this wind and malarkey wasn't in the job description, y'know.

@Lordyaswas,
You didn't read the fine print.
He's going towards Cairns occasionally. They have cyclones, including winds AND malarkey.
No refunds..

Australia's tropical storms. When journalists stand out in the rain and tell people not to stand out in the rain.

@dlowan,
Thanks, glad for the weakening.

I recall the last biggie, trying to figure out what was where and sort of getting it, but by now I've no idea how close it is to Hinge and family and dogs and cats and friends.

@hingehead,
Watched a bit of storm coverage on the weather network late this afternoon. Seems like it was more than a bit of wind. but I'm probably not used to cyclone weather.

Glad that all your fingers and toes and people and pets are there.

@ehBeth,
It hasn't quite got to us yet EB, maybe another couple of hours. Wind picking up now.

@hingehead,
Adding for diversion, a girl in my elementary school was named Rita Malarkey. Peppy name.

@hingehead,
A friend in Cairns has lost power but is otherwise doing well. Glad it wasn't worse!

@JPB,
Are they in Redlynch? It lost power for 30 minutes this morning. The closer it got to us the calmer it's been. Must be mt Whitfield sheltering us.

Fortunately we miss out on another headline as a nurse who volunteers for the red cross is cleared of a suspected ebola infection after returning from Sierra Leone
