@msolga,
Yep, pretty gutting, sorry Curtis Pitt lost Mulgrave - he seems genuinely nice, but I can't say I'm generally invested in state politics - hopefully that's the last of Qld venting against the ALP - it's hard not see positives about switching after the best part of twenty years, and who knows, maybe it will be good for the state, and longer term better for the ALP. Love that Katter sees it as a victory. Drunk uncles rule!
Now with most state govs under LNP control the electorate will see a Labor federal government as a good check - Howard did it for long enough and didn't seem to suffer.
Appalled by Gavin King winning Cairns. I only know him through his editorials in the Murdoch owned Cairns Post. Yuck. I guess it shows that Qld voted against Labor rather than for the LNP vision ("make us 'Can Do' Queensland again" sigh). Still in Australia absolute power doesn't usually last for long (except in Queensland, if you're Joh Bjelke Petersen).
Maybe the QPS will buck up under a new regime - their performance has been spotty for a while, quite possibly because of a stagnation in govt.
And the bunnies lost, but the brumbies won, as did Sunderland so 50/50 in my most watched sporting codes (League, Union, EPL and Politics)
