I'm having the same problems as Ragman, and sometimes I get an abort message and sometimes I get a different one.
Your solution doesn't work, jes, when there's only one page in the thread. Sometimes you can click on it, get the abort, go back out and into A2k, enter the thread again 8 - 10 times without any success... or you can come back 3 minutes later and it works.
Just to let you know this is happening with great frequency to me. Then, of course, I get that damn Gateway error message, despite having changed to .org a couple of weeks ago.
ragman :
i tried using the address you gave , same result : ABORT !
to get at the last entry of a thread , i now often start 2-3 pages back and start moving forward from that .
hbg.
A2k is broken
That doesn't work for me as I don't get the chance to hit "back" or next page. As soon as I attempt to access certain threads, I get an abort. Then I have to log back into A2K and it happens again.
A2k is broken
ragman :
looks your problems with a2k are worse than mine !
i actually blamed windows VISTA for my problems with a2k
it seems rather strange that some us have more problems than others .
i'm using windows e-mail and considered going to mozilla , but the mozilla website talks about certain compatibility problems that might possible crop up - i'm not knowledgeable enough to deal with that .
perhaps a "computer dance" - like a rain dance - might be useful for us troubled souls

Re: repeated aborts
just for the helluvvitt, i changed org to
com:
http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=104650
at first i got a blank screen, but a refresh brought up the thread in question...
... trying to replicate the above, with no success...
Seems possibly like some ISPs may work better than other..wonder if it's about DNS and some ISPs not updating their lookup database? (Almost sounds like I know what I'nm talking about? LOL)
i tried "a2k.com " but noticed that the system changed it to "org" as soon as i hit the enter key - well , at least it keeps our brains from freezing up .
a bit of frustation is supposed to be good for us
(hey , emoticons work fine - that's a consolation !)

the 'start number' method also only worked once for me
it's getting more interesting !
tried to get at the thread of canadian jokes that mame just started .
i had to go to mame's master-page and work my way into it from there - and eventually succeeded !
tried to get at the last entry for this thread by starting one page early and strolling forward : ABORT !
so i went three pages back and am posting reply there !

it works fine for me in Firefox, but not in IE.
However, at work, the connection just got up and left all of a sudden and didn't come back. No such server found
Hope they find it soon, though lord knows I don't need a2k at work. It's probably only good for me.

I have the same problem when I encounter the abort - I have to click ok and then go out and then back into A2K again. You never know when it's going to happen or how often, and that is the frustrating thing. I mean, if it's always the last page, fine... start earlier. But it's not... it could be the first page. ack.
I'm alone here on safari...
So, when I post, I get a notice that safari doesn't open the page. Luckily, I remember this from trying times (server changing) before - that is, if you repost what you just said, you'll double post. This is happening a lot this evening.
I just went to go back a page and this is another message I keep getting:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds
Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.
FYI
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. It's very frustrating.
So, if, as Jespah says, it's the ad server.... Does this mean that those of us with IE will always have this problem?
Or are the workarounds just for the time being?
That's the $64,000 question, Caribou - I'm hoping it's just temporary.
The somewhat funny thing is - and I noted that shortly after the change already: sometimes I have to start A2K in the aol-browser (which is an old IE, I think), until I can open it with IE.
(Mostly it works perfectly.)
