Can a plain old rat join the beloved speagle, wolf, and duck? Never saw the show, of course.

The rat is always welcome.

The show is about 4 couples (counting the therapist herself and her husband) and their relationships. It's very personal and graphic, but so far I think everyone can find elements of themselves in at least one of the couples.

Aww, shucks, thanks She, Roger and Beth. Very Happy

I was shocked to see a penis. TV always shows breasts and powder puffs, but how often do you see a penis and testicles? That surprised me.

I'm hoping the characters will develop more depth. The first two episodes left me yelling at the tv, "Good Lord, would ya'll just talk!" And, I didn't think the couple trying to conceive was very convincing. I guess guys can get it up even when they are mad, hurt, not feeling connected. I just thought he was able to turn it on a bit quick knowing she was manipulating him.

Gosh, your TV offerings certainly sound much more exciting than Oz TV! Surprised

Oh & I love you, too, squinney.

Love ya too, Francis and Msolga.

Tell Me You Love Me is on HBO, a pay cable channel. Wouldn't see it on regular tv or basic cable over here. We are still prudes about penii.

After Soprano's, Deadwood, and Carnival, I think the bar is set pretty high for what HBO produces. I was hoping this would be an equal quality replacement, but it doesn't look like it will.

At least there are finally new episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I love Larry David.

Not like Rome.

Rome was...... well..... boring.
I hear that so many people liked it, and so I rented the begining of the series and it seemed as though it was only soft porn.
Not that i MIND that.. but I wasnt looking for that when I rented it.
It had very little immediate character development beyond who was screwing who, and the first few characters....well.. there was no one to like.

This one shows a real penis?
Whoa......that doesnt happen often at all.

I think people here consider the penis ugly, or sacred.
You see a womans body from the inside out, but nothing more then pubic hair on a man. Confused

I got into Rome, but not until the second or third episode. Squinney, it looks like you and I have the same taste in shows.

I watched the first two episodes and was disappointed. I'm not a fan of soft porn, so found the sex boring. I found the three men (I'm not counting the therapist's husband) very unlikable. I wouldn't want be a friend to any of them. If I watch any additional episodes it will probably be on HBO on Demand when I've got an hour to waste.

Oh, I don't like any of the characters. The women too, with the exception of the therapist (though that could change) are mostly unlikeable. But I think that's the point. We're not supposed to like them, we're supposed to see our own ugliness in theirs.

I'm with you, FreeDuck, I don't like the women either though I do have a bit of sympathy for the one who is trying so desperately to get pregnant. Still, I don't have the strong dislike for them as I do for the men. It's probably as you say that I identify more closely with them and don't like what I see.

Really? Interesting. I am the least sympathetic toward her. She comes off as selfish and manipulating and deceptive.

I think you're right about not liking what we see...

One possible reason for our different outlooks is that I as an elderly male tend to be somewhat forgiving of women's foibles- less so of mens'.

I believe it. I think we all have different outlooks based on our personal situations/identities. I guess that's why I find the show interesting. I, as a not quite middle aged female am less forgiving of women and their hangups. But I will acknowledge that I find none of the men very sexy or interesting. Well, maybe the therapist's husband.
