First, understand that lack of health-care "insurance" does not mean a lack of health care. Many emergency rooms, by law, provide medical care to anyone who walks in, whether an illegal or legal resident of this country.
Second, when Moore asserts that 50 million Americans lack health care insurance, he most assuredly includes some of the estimated 11 million to 20 million illegal aliens living here. Of people born in America, 86 percent have health-care coverage. For non-citizens, only 57 percent have health-care insurance.
Now examine those who lack health-care insurance.
Nearly half go without health insurance only for four months or less, usually while between jobs. Others with employment could easily add health-care insurance through their work for a very small premium. Many without health-care insurance consist of young people (18 million uninsured are between the ages of 18 and 34) who consider themselves -- given their youth and good health -- unlikely to face large health-care costs.
Over 14 million of the uninsured, according to the Census Bureau, live in households earning $50,000 or more annually. Over 7 million are in households earning more than $75,000 a year. These people could afford health-care insurance, either out-of-pocket or by making minor adjustments to their lifestyles. A small number of the uninsured include criminals. Should taxpayers provide health care for them, as well?

An interesting question, for sure. I have little doubt how Larry Elders would answer it.
And I wonder how Larry defines "very small premium"... .
The biggest hoot of all is to hear Larry, and, of late, our own wonderful conservative with compassion President, declare that there's no lack of health care because the uninsured can just toddle over to any emergency room. Right. My ass.
I will drink a large beaker of horse piss if either of those gentlemen has ever attempted, or even accompanied someone else who attempted, to get "health care" at one of our local (NYCity) emergency rooms.
I'm sure they have both watched a lot of ER and St. Elsewhere where the one thing that always seemed to be left out was the mother with three children (two well, one with a fever and milky eyes) waiting for six hours in the plastic chairs for someone to do more than take a temperature.
And it's not like the hospital staff were sitting around doing Sudoko. They weren't. They were handling the trauma cases and the desperately ill, the elderly, the guy who vomited while trying to fill out his form and the two junkies who kept threatening to kill each other.
What the hell was that matter with that mother? Well, life is what happens... her husband left to go who-knows-where eight months ago. A month later she lost the part time job she had(which didn't offer health insurance to anyone employed there.) and it took her six weeks to find a full time job AND someone to watch her kids before and after school. She will not be covered by any insurance plan there until she is employed for six months in total. (Where the hell does Elder get four months???)
Anyway, she lost three days of work (the kiddo had strep, probably picked up at daycare) plus she had to pay for the meds and she's got the bill from the ER for $1,272.18. Sure, it's free, right? Don't pay it, right?
Then three years from now when she gets a shot at getting that little house her credit rating shows shitty because of that non-payment.
Joe(very nice. Oh, her name is Martha and she is like millions of others)Nation

WTF? Who suggested that someone who can afford to pay can't get all the health care she or he can purchase in the USA?

Well of course you can get health care....you just have to quit your job and live off the state, or be saddled with emergency room debt for likely the rest of your life.
What's wrong with that

That is if you are lucky enough to survive long enough to get care.

Acutally, the jailed criminals have good health care and in some cases better than the average, hard working, law-abiding citizen.
