Homeland Security funding
In 2007, the federal government will distribute $747 million under the Urban Areas Security Initiative to cities most at risk for a terrorist attack. The following breaks down the top 10 recipients and how Phoenix and Tucson compare:
New York City: $135 million
Los Angeles/Long Beach: $72.5 million
Washington D.C./Capital region: $61.6 million
Chicago: $47.2 million
New Jersey/Newark: $36 million
San Francisco Bay area: $34.1 million
Boston Area : $34 million
Houston: $25 million
Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington: $21 million
Philadelphia: $18.7 million
San Diego: $16 million
Phoenix: $11.9 million
Tucson: $4.9 million
Considering that the 9/11/01 terrorists started their jouney up in Maine and ended up on planes in Boston, would you think that some money would be going to the State of Maine and more money to Boston?
Why do you think there's a likelihood that the future terrorists would pick the same route or use the same cities just because the 9/11 terrorists did? Logic would dictate future terrorists bent on success would pick a different route. Distribution of money is random and is probably decided according to nepotism or along some favored political lines.
Also, this money distributed will do nothing to discourage a truly motivated terrorist ring. It's just a matter of time before some attempt is made and this funding effort creates a false sense of security. Homeland security as set up now is a farce.

That's precisely what a terrorist would want an American to think.
What a waste of money. Far more people die in America because they can't afford to go to the doctor than are killed by some terrorist.
My rural county got almost a million dollars because we are considered a sensitive area near NYC. The local officals spent it on a couple of new white luxury jeeps (the son of one of those officals drives one of them),some gas masks, a big siren, a bunch of cement posts and tons of literature you can pick up at the local firehouse about what to do in case of emergency. Hope you're happy with the way Bush spends your tax money Miller.
When I think of the events of 9/11/01 and the fact that these terrorists just coasted through Logan Airport and no one could stop them, I'm sick to my stomach.

Apparently who ever was the president at the time wasn't doing his job.

Did having health insurance save any of the thousands of poor souls who suffered and died on 9/11/01?
If we aren't a nation safe from terrorist attacks, health insurance isn't worth sh!t to any of us.

Since you didn't see the movie Sicko, you don't know that the people Moore took for treatment in Cuba where all workers at the 9/11 site. They had all been refused US health care and had serious medical ailements due to their work at the World Trade disaster.
