Traditionally the People's National Party (PNP) has had more ?'sympathizers' than the Jamaican Labour Party (JLP) (Stone 1974, 1978), and that this could be due to: (i) the charismatic Manley factor; (ii) the policies and programmes instituted and framed by the institution; (iii) the middle class base from which it draws members and (iv) the campaign strategies, and how they resonate with the masses. I may be intrepid to say that country is substantially more PNP than JLP (See Stone 1978), and that can be noted in Stone's work (Stone 1978); as the PNP has won certainly more of the parish votes compared to the JLP. Recently a study commissioned by the Centre for Leadership and Governance (CLG), the University of the West Indies, Mona-Jamaica, has found that the PNP has 68.2% of ?'sympathizers' compared to the JLP's 75.5% (see Figure 1).
