Jamaica fruit bar from the Mexican cart vendors in SoCal.

The ice cream trucks in LA were equipped with cassette players to play the jingle. Of course, friends of mine got jobs as ice cream drivers, swapped the tapes for Led Zeppelin and went down to Venice Beach to sell... They did good business but got fired anyhow -- I guess an ice cream truck has to sound like an ice cream truck!

One of the great things about having children - you have a reason without looking like a fool to get some of those tasty treats I remember from childhood.

One of my favs - the cannonball - the one with a gum ball at the bottom. The gum was horrible and hard as a rock, but I loved it anyone (especially since gum chewing wasn't allowed in my house).

Another one - the Italien Ice. I loved to flip it over and eat the sweet syrup on the bottom.

I forgot about those, Linkat. The Italian Ice was also a favorite.

As an adult I prefer the Firecracker (red, white, and blue popsicle) and orange sherbet push-up pop to the more decadent choices of my youth--Choco Tacos etc.

Do enjoy a drumstick now and then.

I also remember, when I was a kid, an ice cream treat on a stick, shaped like Mickey Mouse.

Too cold here in Prague for ice cream yet! Sad

It reminds me that in the UK, they always had written on the outside of the van:

"Stop me and buy one" Smile

So, the inevitable consequence is that condoms were (allegedly) marked:

"Buy me and stop one" Confused

No ice cream trucks here yet....but I saw a Dickie Dee guy! Laughing

I always liked the 'ghosts'. It was a sherbet, lemon I think, shaped like a ghost on a stick with a gumball in it.
And orange cremes.
And American Rockets (red, blue, and white).

drool. Me thinks the outdoor ice cream places have opened up now:)
