Some might have noticed that I've been away a couple of days - others knew that I've been to Paris until last Sunday Laughing

It wasn't only a pleasure trip: I did some researches in the archives of the Préfecture de Police de Paris, situated in the Hôtel de Police du 5ème arrondissement

The personal there was very friendly and extraordinary helpful ...

... but unfortunately the papers/sources I was mainly looking for weren't stored there (perhaps in the National Archive).

One of my - if not the - favourite art periods is Art Deco/art nouveau/Jugendstil. And there's a great collection of exclusive eamples to be found in this museum:

I break would be fine - the ticket is valid all day long, so let's use the metro (NB: this is the original sign!)

You may wonder, but we head to a department warehouse, the BHV = Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville in the Rue Tivoli.

There, we go downstairs, in the souterrain, and amongst nails and superclue, hammers and other tools, we'll have coffee and a snack in the "Brico Café":

Not a huge choice ...

... but they serve e.g. a delicious "tarte de pommes"

Or just have a double café and watch the other customers in this somewhat strange surrounding

Or may I invite you for a glas of wine to a jazz club? Claude Lutter is playing tonight. (Fidgety Feet was playing on last Friday, when I had dinner there, in the Petit Journal Saint Michel on the boulevard Saint Michel)
(L' escalope de veau est vraiment superbe et très recommandable!)

[More photos (lots of paintings!) to follow tomorrow.]

Good morning, Walter. Fascinating pictures, and I was particularly interested in the jazz club, but the beautiful display of art from the museum was awesome.

er, What is "Fidgety Feet"? <smile>

Ahh, Walter, you have stood where I have stood, seen what I have seen.
That clock and the big window behind it takes me back.
As you stand looking at the Musee D'Orsay the river is on the left and the Louvre is on the opposite side.

Ahhhh, gay Paris.I hope you had a good time.
Thanks for the pics.
