@puzzledperson,
Perhaps the events of Genesis chapter 3 have caused the proper balance to be disturbed. Many people think so, as do I. It may simply be a hopeful allegory. You decide.

Google has not given the right credit, it seems.

Google is a search engine.
Edited: I've learnt about the period of enlightment 50 years at school. But if you havent't and have to rely on google: use it properly. Diderot was French, wrote in French ... and one result via google for instance here

Yes, the UN has every ability to unite people, but it isn't brave enough to say what's necessary: say that the US should be ended because of Alicia Silverstone, or say that no nation should exist because anyone's made of atoms.

Neo sure has a bug up his backside about the UN. They must be the anti-Christ store front in his eyes.

@neologist,
The UN is not a world government, does not maintain a military force, and prints no currency. They have their own stamps but nobody uses them, apart from collectors.

The UN is an expression of the will of the allies to avoid another world war after WW2. Just like the League of Nations was the expression of the will of the allies to avoid another world war after WW1. It's a tool for diplomacy, and like any tool it has no independent will or force. If its member nations want to use it, it's useful, and if they don't want to use it, it's useless...

Recently it's been undermined by both the US and Russia. W's Gulf war undermined fundamenal idea that no nation can attack another nation without an explicit UNSC mandate. And when Putin attacks Ukraine, everybody goes "Oh well, who cares?"... The whole idea of collective security that underpins the UN is now going down the drain. The UN is spiraling towards its death, like the League of Nations before it, because some of its main sponsors (the US, the UK, Russia) have abandonned it.

Until WW3, that is. And until the next attempt to promote peace, cooperation and diplomacy through such a global thingy... What it's gona be called next time? The Club of Countries?

I think we should go back to The League of Nations. And if the US is still around this time they should join it.

Integration is inevitable (no matter how hard right-wing YouTubers try to antagonise the effort), but I doubt it'll be the UN that does so

That being said, if the UN wants to unite the world, they could let their delegates give each other piggybacks at summit events
