@farmerman,
Yeah so?

Don't you already have an internet provider?

Yeah, of course we pay for the internet, which we'd have even if we didn't even own a TV.

The cost of netlix is minimal....much much cheaper than cable.

No, it's not free, but if I can't afford less than $10 a month, plus what I've been paying to get internet for years anyway I better cash in my chips.

$9/month netflix vs. $100 plus/month cable.

@chai2,
Ooh, Chai.

Glad I've caught you on a TV thread as there are some recommendations I wanted to pass on, but kept forgetting to do so.
You may have already had some or all of these Brit series on your TV, but I doubt it so it's worth a look.

Have a search on Netflix for:

1. Broadchurch - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadchurch

2. Marchlands (spooky) - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marchlands

3. Unforgiven TV series, and NOT the Clint Eastwood western. I'll try to find the link.

4. The Missing - http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2014/oct/19/the-missing-bbc-drama-parents-nightmare-james-nesbitt

5. The Fall - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fall_(TV_series)

and

6. Lightfields (very spooky) - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightfields

All excellent viewing. Broadchurch is being re-made or has just been re-made in the USA for your TV market, but the original Brit series is superb. They are currently making series 2 over here.

The Fall series 2 has just started here, as has series 2 of The Missing.

Gripping stuff.

@Lordyaswas,
Another one is "Remember me", starring of all people, Michael Palin.
It may be a bit early to find this on Netflix as it is only just being shown on TV here, but believe me, if episode one is anything to go by, it's going to be one hell of a spooky thriller.

The Blacklist (2013 TV Series)
Bob's Burgers (2011 TV Series)

Inside Amy Schumer (2013 TV Series)
The Mind of a Chef (2012 TV Series)
Orphan Black (2013 TV Series)
Portlandia (2011 TV Series)
Suits (2011 TV Series)
Under the Dome (2013 TV Series)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013 TV Series)
American Horror Story (2011 TV Series)
Game of Thrones (2011 TV Series)
Girls (2012 TV Series)
Gotham (2014 TV Series)
Homeland (2011 TV Series)

The weird thing is, I also love a ton of shows on Netflix and Hulu, but there's very little overlap between my list and yours. Probably the only one of these I've seen all of is The Blacklist, although I did watch the first season and a half of Girls.

I'd add:

The Americans
The Good Wife
Alphas (still streaming on Netflix)
Caprica (still streaming)
Continuum
