For the purists out there who find Mark's answer a little too bloated and cumbersome, I have the perfect riposte:

C(n,2) = 55
n!/2!(n-r)! = 55
n!/2 * (n-2)! = 55
n!/(n-2)! = 110
(n) * (n-1) * (n-2)!/ (n-2)! = 110
n*(n-1) = 110
n^2-n=110
n^2-n-110=0
Apply quadradic equation: a = 1, b=-1 and c=-110... Roots are 11, and -10. Since there can't be negative people shaking hands, there are 11 people.

How long will it take for the car to catch up with the truck and how far away from the toll booth will they be




There are 3 light bulbs in a room that is sealed air/light tight. There are no windows, there is only one door (but there are no cracks around the door for light to escape). Outside the door, there are 3 switches.

You can change them as much as want, until the door is opened. You can only open the door once. Once the door is open, you cannot change the light switches. How do figure out which switch controls which light

We know they are all OFF at the start.
