Rainsoft Align Gears with Timer?

Hello,

I have a circa 1996 Rainsoft softener and the timer stopped advancing. I took the unit apart a bit and cleaned the mechanical switch and it seems better now (at least manual advance works). The bad part is that I turned the dial while working on the unit and I believe the timer is no longer in sync with the gears. Before I pulled the power to the unit I believe I may have opened one of the two valves.

Can someone tell me where the timer should be and how the gears should be aligned to start fresh? Does this make sense?

The timer looks like this: http://www.wernerphotographic.com/RainsoftTimer.jpg

Thanks for any help,

-Mike

Clarification: What I called gears in the above post are actually called Drive Cams.

I believe they are opening and closing at the WRONG times, which I hear is REALLY bad. I need to re sync them with the timer.

Thanks again,

-Mike

No problem. Visit my web site and give me a call.
It's easier to walk you through the procedure over the phone than on the web.

WUHOO!!!!!

Problem resolved!!

A huge thanks to the H2O_Man!!

As we discussed over the phone, the cycle continued and stopped exactly where it normally does.

I really appreciate your assistance and our nice chat. Your years of experience is evident. You were absolutely right, it would have been quite a challenge to walk me through those steps via email.

As I mentioned on the phone, please don't ever hesitate to call me if I can help YOU with my area of expertise.

Have a great day!!

-Mike
