There are heaps of good painters on this site, and I can assure you I'm not one of them. I luv to draw & do art on computers though (mostly with photoshop).

I've posted some pencil sketches & such here before so I'll try out a few of my recent computer generated abstract stuff. I love abstract art cuz if you do enough of it something will come out cool every now and again by pure chance. Smile Besides I suck at doing any sort of proportions on human bodies & suchlike.

These pictures are all created from a blank PC canvas...some people do computer generated art that is simply mixing & blending other pictures, but that's not really my style. Anyway, here're 4 and I can post more if people are interested in this kind of art.

And we're off...

Monger I wish you'd post them individually. They are awesome and deserve their own threads!

If not, I'lll be back with comments.

There is a very very good graphical artist on this site: Squeedleboink. One of the most talented people I know.

Nothing harsh to say, they are all very interesting. Number two reminds me of some hand painted Victorian prints I have seen (personal observation not a criticism or critique)

I use photoshop plugins by MetaCreations for helping with the fractal-type stuff, plus I have AlienSkin EyeCandy3. Photoshop has heaps of filters built in though, which if used right can work wonders.

I've heard that Metacreations Painter (which apparently supports photoshop plugins) is better than PHotoshop, but I dunno I never used it.

3 and 4 are absolutely awesome. How do you do that watery mark stuff? I'm terrible with graphics but I bet I can learn that.

("render clouds" filter, i'm guessing?)

Render clouds is a great one for fluffy backgrounds & blending in soft dark areas & such but it ain't gonna help you make things liquidy. Number 3's ripples were done by doing a radial blur on a bunch of thin circles, enhancing & drawing out edges, then blending that with the picture using a bunch of different blend modes (I think I used color burn, lighten & luminosity on different parts of the circle). I think the way I did it was overly tedius, & I'm sure you can buy some filter somewhere that'll rippleify your image for ya, but I didn't really want a real looking ripple effect anyway. Actually, I'm prolly making it sound like I put more thought into that one than I really did. Smile

I'm really not into abstract modern art, but I'm attracted to #3. I think you're right about experimentation in trying to get the right graphics combination of form and color. As with any art form, it depends how attractive the art is depending our our own subjective likes and dislikes. c.i.

i was thinking of using "clouds" as a template to get somewhat random shapes to select and do other stuff to the image.

very cool stuff, though. i occasionally tinker with similar things using existing images at work. (don't have the capability on the home machine.) you're at a much more advanced level than i am, though.

Hey, very nice!

I like the 4th one the best for pure esthetics, but I like the first one best for combination of esthetics and possible meaning. It's vaguely cellular, vaguely wombish, vaguely drop-of-water-ish... definitely evocative.

By the way, I like all four of them together. They offset each other in nice ways. If you were a teeny bit more new-agey, I'd guess that they were water, air, earth, and fire. Cool

4 as craven said is definitely awsome and i really like all of them. You are really using the possibilities of photoshop and not relying on 'click - watercolour filter' type shallowness.

I enjoyed seeing them and you should definitely do more and post more for us to see.

Craven you'll love the possibilities of photoshop with your computer ability. It is a brilliantly creative programme.

Of all of them I am most consistently drawn to four. If that were a canvas, and I could afford it, (both hypotheticals) I would want that one on my wall.

Hmm, Mong. If you have high resolution images would you wanna sell them as framed prints?

yes you should monger - limit the edition sizes and keep the editions quite small so that people realise they aren't buying something mass produced (that's the way i do it - my editions are not usually above 20 and sometimes only 10).

I'm going with number 4 as well for my favorite, strictly aesthetically, but I like them all. More! More! Pretty please?
