But if malpractice becomes a major issue, I think we'll see them go up even more, especially for more routine services. (People might say, "To hell with it. Put him down. I can't afford that" for a surgery, but they're not going to for an examination and routine prescriptions -- though they may be more inclined not to come in for these things at all.)

I know how much my parents used to pay in malpractice insurance for a small family law practice (where, last I heard, nobody was likely to be maimed on the operating table), and it was not a small chunk of change.

Errors and Omissions coverage is expensive. No doubt about it. I'm always glad that these litigious habits of Muricans are a bit slow getting to us.
