I created a Microsoft Word document. I used the Insert feature for Page Numbers. However, it is not working properly, so I wish to remove the "Insert Page Numbers."
How do I remove it?
As with many functions in MS Word, there's more than one way to do that.
#1 Method:
1. Go to 'View' in the banner.
2. Select (left click) 'Header and Footer'
3. Select the Footer by clicking icon 'Switch Between Header and Footer' (9th choice from left) and enable Footer (dotted box) to appear in your doc.
4. Highlight the Page Number (on the right in this case). You can right click the number and cut using your mouse or just delete it.
5. Select Close to get out of the 'Header and Foote' function .
6. Verify the Page number is removed.
I hope this helps
Of course, by all means save the doc (or else you'll be right back where you were.)
Also make sure you don't have multiple versions of the doc on your desktop (or in other directory). I've done that before, too
Microsoft Word - Insert Page Number
Ragman-
Thank you for your prompt and well-organized reply.
I succeeded in following your instructions #1, #2, and #3.
On number #4, I don't see a page number to highlight. Also, when I originally inserted the page numbers I did not use the View/Header and Footer feature. Rather, I used the Insert/Page Numbers feature.
Thanks again.
It doesn't matter how you initially inserted the page numbers.
The method I listed should work to remove them.
If you aren't seeing the page numbers then perhaps they are ALREADY gone.
MicrosoftWord - Insert Page Number
Ragman-
Yes, thank you for your help.
I removed the page numbers as set forth below:
1) I brought the cursor down to the page number and double clicked (left).
2) At this point a "Footer Box" appeared with my page number in its top right corner. Also a "Header and Footer Box" appeared a little above the other box.
3) I used the mouse to bring the curser over the page number and single clicked it (left).
4) I then used the Backspace key to position right over the Page Number.
5) I pressed the Delete key.
6) I then clicked Close in the "Header and Footer Box."
Glad you got things fixed.
You're welcome.
