Yup, it's me. Largely in stealth mode. I figured on the rare occasions I do post here, it would be nice to be able to do so without folks having pre-conceptions about me from a prior 'life.'

Course it ain't exactly a secret. I just assume most folks are too lazy to ready a profile. Cool

I am, sometimes! Definitely. <smiles>

I find the style, physically, of the board has an impact on how I post. There are types of discussions I can't participate in, as a result. It's a side effect of being very visual in my orientation to the world.

Thats definitely true. The style, the look of the board makes you feel and react differently, sets a different mood, and thus makes you behave differently, as well. (Not 'you' you, but - "one", I mean.)

And the props. Abuzz had the instant update thingie with the little bell - gives a totally different dynamic to a thread. Different feeling to "staying in check" with a thread while you're at the computer, as well (excited, quick-to-the-trigger, warm&fuzzy). And here, you have all those smilies (I dont use 'em much, I like em better "analog", but others do) - and the avatars, of course. And the sigs.

Even something like the difference between Abuzz threads being one big whole, and A2K threads being neatly split up in bite-sized pages, has an effect on how you post, I think. How easy you refer to a post from a while back, how quickly the topic changes resp. acquires or loses what kind of focus, how a (chaotic/witty/competitive) dynamic develops or not, etc. I changed my prefs myself to make my A2K pages a lot longer - 100 posts a page instead of 10, I think.

Its not just myself that I have this sense of, like, coming across wholly differently. I had a totally different image of dlowan on Abuzz than here, for example - she comes across much more cosy, chatty, here. Or Ethel/Lola for example. You come across much the same, ebeth, thank the lord! <smiles>

Craven,

I'm glad that you remember my poem. I wrote it on the 9/11 morning within an hour or so of the event. We were all in shock, and the poem practically wrote itself.

Irishblues! Wow! Who knew! (Gotta read more profiles...)

Nimh, I know what you mean about the personas being different/ running across people more. Cavfancier was on Abuzz, I think, but he's only really "registered" here. There have been many others who were on Abuzz but I feel like I got to know here.

Seattle friend,

I remember it well, the context made it what it is. The quotidian mechanics of folding laundry was powerful imagery due to the backdrop that was 9/11.

I remember few poems from the Realm but that is one of them.
