So - how did GoAway stop Craven from doing just that?

Is it a story we can hear?

Yes, Craven. 9/11.

And sweet Caroline Dumaine...C.D. was not her given name.

and while we talk, my dear young friend...
a poem of yours I recommend.
(wish I could remember it)

Sir Lancelot, where did he go?
So pragmatic..that we know.
I thought for sure he was a Brit.
ah, well, I'll get the hang of it. Cool

GoAway! It's so good to see you! I'm sorry about your arm. How's the electric device working for you? What else has been happening? Will you stay a while?

Oh, duh! That explains why she called me habibi the other day. Was wondering who she'd been on Abuzz. Morganwood's here, too? That's nice.

I hang out on the politics threads here much, much more than on Abuzz (hardly went into them, there, once the presidential elections brouhaha was over) - so I guess I also simply run into other sets of people here, because of that. I'm different, now. <sighs>

Forgot about princessash and neohihp! Had them confused with you and 'stasia back in the day.

I wonder if she ever made it to Germany! ;-)

Moondoggy's showed up once or twice, and general lee too (has another name here, not sure if it's to be advertised or not.)

Moondoggy I've seen, but only a very rare once or twice, such a pity! Its just not the same without him. Generallee I didnt know that he was here! He made me LOL a lot, too, on Abuzz ..

I've seen Terry here, we exchanged some PMs, but ... ah, just, way too little ... those were the days ... <smiles>

Oh and look, Letty's here, indeed, right here in fact! <big grin> I knew that! Of course ... seen the avatar often enough! And Peace&Love's here, too ...

I miss Stoat as well, btw, think he was already mentioned a few times - he was funny! And kissthecook, is he here, under what name?

By the way, does any of you have some kind of, I dont know, cognitive dissonance (hope I'm not totally putting that phrase in a wrong context), about people who've changed their handle, between Abuzz and here, as well? People like me, I guess?

Cause I totally have that problem. See, I've never been at any of the gatherings (what, being in Holland and all), so I know screennames rather than people. So, like - well, for example, I was always glad to see "MassCass" pop in to any of my Abuzz threads and chatter cheerfully about the events of her day. And I know she's "Quinn" here (right?), but ... I just dont make the automatic connection, somehow! When I see a post by Quinn, I dont think, hey, MC's been here, its like - a new person, blank slate and all, like, you know, a new ID/account was created for this new name in my head!

You get so used to screennames, they're like faces somehow. And if you're on the board long enough, you get the same automatic reaction to seeing someone's screenname as you otherwise have about seeing someone's face, regardless of what they're gonna say. And imagine your friends suddenly have a new face!

Well, I may just be weird, of course <grins>. And yeh, I did it myself, too, though nimh is of course the acronym for my Abuzz screenname, apart from being a reference to one of Terry Doo's smiles! ;-)

Beth - nice avatar change!

nimh - i know what you're saying. I know quinn when i see her post (yes, you're right) because she's a real-life friend. But I still sometimes don't make the connecion with others who post less often.

Wheeee!

I really thought/was afraid she might never actually make it there! (Though now that you tell me, a memory does creep up suggesting that I did just still get the news about the first time she went, when I was dropping out of Abuzz!)

Do any of you feel like you're a different "persona" here than on Abuzz - like, that the character of the person you are here is a changed one (changed from who you were on Abuzz)?

Cause I have that, and that's reflected in what I post here and how I post it, I think. 'S been a very tough and troubled year or two. I think there's a lot of channeling of stuff in the determined, dogged, intense posting I do on the politics threads here. I wonder if people who knew me from Abuzz actually even 'recognize' me, even apart from the screenname change and all.

GoAway, please don't go away again! It's just great to see you here ... I think of you often and smile:)

Seattlefriend, great to see you too, and I'm so looking forward to your staying around and partying with us again:)

I hear from Temper all the time, and I like to think we are friends. She is doing great, gets out of the house and walks every day, goes shopping and it seems her street fear is a thing of the past.

Dragonma and myself are great friends, we write each other every day and she plans to come down this winter for a visit. She moved to Toronto and is enjoying the good life, new friends, new environment, new interests.

Gonna kick it old school...folks I miss from waaay back <unfurls honor roll>...bored, ellie_zee, maze pattern, kat_ms, Hugh Jass, Sister Nu Shooz, ExRugger...

In answer to your questio nimh..well that's a toughie. Living 'round Boston a number of ex-ABUZZers/A2Kers are folks I know in real life. I like to think I'm the same person either way ( though admittedly more guarded on line) but that's easy for me to say.

It's an interesting set of questions, nimh.

I 'recognize' you, because you make me smile. You were a provocative writer, in all the best meanings of that word, at Abuzz. Perhaps you've focussed it more here. You're still habibi, though. Or, as I prefer to think of you - Whoa, it's me! There has always been something energetic in your posting, and almost a sense that you're surprised, sometimes, where a post has taken you.

Do I recognize myself? hmmmm. I see myself as presenting, generally, in a fluffier way here. I don't know if it has to do with the site, or something that's different in me. Since I'm still posting on Abuzz on a daily basis, I don't think I can have changed that much. I find the style, physically, of the board has an impact on how I post. There are types of discussions I can't participate in, as a result. It's a side effect of being very visual in my orientation to the world.
