Since my signature line will probably change soon, i'm going to post it here:
Quote:you are blind.
it is a dangerous thing to deny the existence of demons, as the devils greatest achievement would be to convince you he doesn't exist.
One of our members posted this, and hilarity ensued.
But really, when you think about this, it is completely plausible.
Take, for example, Pallas Athena:
Note that she wears a helmet and carries a spear. In many ancient images, she is also carrying a shield. But Pallas Athena was not just a tough girl, she was also a symbol of intelligence, of wisdom and learning. Her "familiar" was the owl, and that is why people think of owls as "wise."
So, you've got one tough cookie who is also really, really smart. Athena was the first militant feminist. So, when the Christians came along, Athena was smart enough not to get mad, but to get even. She not only didn't resist the elimination of her worship, she encouraged it. Since that time, she has been responsible for witchcraft, for PMS, for free-lance prostitution, the suffragettes--the list goes on and on. And she keeps up with the times, too--she is responsible for the women's liberation movement, french-cut bikinis, and visibly noticeable butt crack in adolescent girls. She's leading you down the garden path friends--the day is not far off when women, and a select, elite group of women, will rule the world.
Athena's greatest achievement has been to convince you that she doesn't exist. I pity the fool . . .
