@ehBeth,
No, bethie, the red things were not smooth on the outside. I think you may have found the answer, except that these were grape tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes.

Grazie mille

@margo,
It was an even better lychee season here, margo.

Yuuuuuuge and quite crisp in texture.

I'm going to grow some next season.

Grafted trees are about 15 shekels each.

a really good cookie from Oak Park Deli loaded up with toooooo much sugar - I was at a family day cookie decorating thing

if I could have figured out how to do it politely, I would have scraped the icing and candy off the top and just eaten the cookie

they kept taking photos so it was impossible to get away to scrape the cookie clean

One of my all-time favorite comfort foods:

Ham on rye, lettuce and mayo. The ham has to be very thinly sliced. The lettuce has to be crisp, and the bread has to come from a bakery, not a package. The mayo needs to be slathered on.

This must be accompanied by a chocolate egg cream.

@Roberta,
when I used to drink I alway liked a sliced Pilsudski ham pff the bone in thick slices with horseradish on rye, Accompanied by a tumbler of Rye whiskey with ice.
Rye whiskey is making a comeback among those who drink booze.

I love ham on rye, but I like a slice of Swiss and some brown mustard (and a great kosher dill pickle) but I've had two surgeries to correct a hiatial hernia and I always have to smear a little mayo on the bread so it doesn't stick in my throat.

I love, love, love horseradish in a small dollap of mayo or sour cream...especially on a roast beef sammie or a little HR in shrimp salad or in a bloody Mary. You don't even need (at least I don't) Vodka, just a touch of Old Bay, Lea and Perrins, horseradish in tomato juice to make it drinkable....... you can toss in some celery salt if you wish.

We've heard that egg creams don't contain either egg or cream. Does a chocolate egg cream contain any chocolate??

@margo,
Bite of lovely crisp bacon. Even before a sip of coffee! It was made for me. Both the bacon and coffee.

Up way too early.

Horseradish is one of the bitter herbs that stands up to anything. I grew some many years ago and nearly went blind when I was grinding it in a cusiinart. I have no idea why but my horseradish was sooo damned hot ya hd to tone it down with pickled red beet juice (Its an old Amish trick to add a bit of sweet and sour to the hotness)

Your vodkaless Bloody Mary sounds good. Cept Id use V8. Is this what they used to call a "Virgin Mary"?
