today was Diane and my Grocery Experience day. I picked up a couple of enjoyable things -
a) a bottle of Beringer Cabernet for $5.99. I've been to a lot of the vineyards in Napa and Sonoma and in the CA central coast area, down as far as the Santa Inez zone. I love that countryside mightily. In memory, I mix some of the vineyards up, since besides the wine, I like the places and the restaurants and even Oakville Grocery in Healdsberg, super sandwiches and wonderful small market; also, there is another on further south. And then there is the wonderful Jim Town Store (happens to face a vineyard). So, I don't care what this one bottle tastes like: it will taste like memories.
b) having rarely bought store crackers in a blur of years, I read farmerman's missive about triskets with rosemary and olive oil, and camembert. Oh, gawd. Ok, now I have bought the triskets, and I'll substitute the gorgonzola I already have....
c) I finally found the won ton (etc.) wrappers. I've made my own, but, eh, nothing to brag about and I'm too lazy to try to improve.
Last thing in my mouth: glass of Pellegrino.
