@vonny,
My sister-in-law treated us to dim sum this morning. She's been staying at our place the past week because of health issues, and we live only one block from Kaiser Hospital.

a small piece of faux crab and a spoonful of pesto potato salad

basically this recipe

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/pesto-potato-salad-recipe.html

with a couple of Michael Smith modifications of the pesto (he told us at a cooking show last year that any kind of good nut and any bright , fresh green would make a good pesto and he was dang right - it's been fun creating variants)

baby spinach and almonds make great pesto

@ehBeth,
I was thinking about seafood today, especially steamed clams, but we went for Chinese tonight. Chow mien, orange chicken and broccoli with beef.

Our spinach is hugely flavorful, with an almost a metallic taste, sorta like rusty iron.
A pesto (we use em mostly as a spread), needs a nice spicey taste.
The lemon, almond/SPINACH combo, doesnt sound appetizing to me.

Im a sucker for any kind of basil, except that "vanilla basil" that was developed in the last coupla years. Too perfumy
