I used to type everything in Georgia, but these days I pretty much type everything in Arizona.

That cracked me up. You are funny.

After I made my post about the font, I opened up word and was looking at all the fonts. I hit a wrong key or something and everything locked up.
I said "uh oh" and started laughing.

TTH, if your computer still works, look at that fontage site (I think I gave the link on the first page).

Arial, from identifont.com -

and, I can't say why I might have found it more annoying than, say, Verdana. Shocked

I did look at it and saw the fonts that were listed.

I only opened word up because it has a great list of fonts and what they all look like. I wanted to see if I could print it. I know there is a way to print them all but I am still getting used to the updated version.

The typeface I use for my own correspondence is Palatino. Graceful, legible.

I find sans serif faces more legible on the computer.

A face I rarely see but always liked is Souvenir.

Debating with myself. Should I mention that I wrote a textbook about design (very basic) with two chapters devoted to type? Sure, what the hell?

I think Janson Text is a nice font for reading. I might be wrong, but I think I remember reading some Stephen King book that was set in it.

As for sans serif, I agree with old europe that futura is nice. Also, old europe, are you or were you ever a typesetter? You sound like you really know a lot about fonts.

The text is English, and it's the German font "Sütterlin (wiki-link)"

Depends on what kind of design work we're talking about. For the most part I do typography for the web and the fonts I like are Trebuchet MS, Georgia Verdana, Tahoma...

Helvetica has been my most-used font for a long, long time. I use it for body copy in most design jobs. Often for headlines also. From Extended to Ultra Compact. I love that font. For serifs, Bodoni is clean, elegant, can't be improved upon. I could almost live with just those two. Almost.
