When will an understudy step in?

I've booked tickets to Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat for Thursday 16th August and was wondering whether anyone knew whether we'd get the main person playing the role or an understudy, please?

Hi Finishing Touches. Welcome to a2k.

There is no way to know for certain whether the star will be performing so far in advance. (Even if the production company knows about a scheduled vacation, they won't announce it until closer to the date.)

And of course, understudies go on due to unpredictable last-minute crises too.

In my experience, the most likely performances for stars to call in sick are matinees on two-show days. Two-show days are tough.

Ah, that's good - I've got the Thurs evening, and there's no matinee that day, so I should be okay. :-) Thank you. Very Happy
