Endnotes for an academic paper

I just finished an academic paper with endnotes. However, the endnotes are separated from the text by some pages which I would prefer not to be in the finished product. I would prefer to have the endnotes immediately following the text. The pages are numbered sequentially - which means even those middle pages have numbers. Is there some way I can move the endnotes up so they come on the next page after the text? If not, is there some way I can skip the middle pages & have the page numbers for the endnotes immediately follow the text?

One (slightly annoying) way to do it would be to put the middle pages in a different document altogether. Most word processors will allow you to start the page numbering of a document on any number you want, so if you put the middle pages into a separate document you can still start their page numbers wherever the endnotes left off.
