I live in Dallas, TX. I am interested in a Culligan water softener. The location of my water line into the home on a 1.5 acre tract does not easily allow an install in my garage (my preferred location). Culligan reps are telling me they install outside and in the ground all the time. I am very concerned about freezing situations as the location of the inground install would be the North side of my home. Thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Bob
I live in a rural area and there are more "in-ground" softener installation then I would have thought.
As far as freezing, considerations are made to "sink" the resin and brine tanks into the ground and insulate and frame around them. I know a few people who have their softeners in the ground and they have no problems even in single digit winters here at 7000 feet above sea level.
You might want to look into a Kinetico softener. Kinetico softeners don't us electricity so they lend themselves nicely to these specialty installs, and would save you the cost of an electrician.
