Halladay got spanked like a battered wife. But something's up with him, he wasn't on his game.

after an off-night friday, the offense returned in a big way this afternoon.
from the 4th inning on they were relentless --

schilling was anything but sharp, but it hardly mattered...

Schilling looked pretty good until that last inning...

Cora is absolutely ripping it up. What a tough spot they're in with him & Pedroia.

And great to see Lugo doing something.

that was maybe the oddest game ever.
down 5-zip, they score 6 times in the bottom of the 9th!

why bawlymore yanked the starter with 2 outs to go i'll never know...

Unfortunately, I found out about the comeback before I got home to watch the recorded game.

OK, so we are out at dinner for Mother's Day. I can see the TV in the bar from where I am sitting - forget it - 9th inning and they are down 5 - 0. Then all of a sudden I hear cheering. I look up unbelieveable we may win this thing. In the end - the bar as well as the whole restaurant is cheering. What a wonderful Mother's Day gift.

francona learned a lesson about starters on sunday...

the raw numbers --
complete game, 6 hits 1 run, no walks, 5 K's, 124 pitches (86 for strikes).

sawx have the best record in the bigs and an 8.5 game lead...

My husband (from out west) a Red Sox convert (thanks to me and his love of baseball) made the comment on Sunday - only in Boston would you see/hear a full restaurant on Mothers Day cheering about a baseball game.

judging by the number of fans in the stands for road games, i'd say they're on their way to becoming America's Team...

Ditto that.
It's incredible how few complete games you see since counting pitches
became the way to manage.

day-night doubleheader sweepage.

tavarez pitched his best game of the year (7 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 3 K's).
schilling kept us in the game (6 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs, 6 K's), but got a no decision.

eric hinske's catch tonight was maybe the best one i've ever seen --
full extension, the ball is barely in the mitt, he hits the dirt hard, his head snaps back like he's been rear-ended, yet somehow he holds onto it Exclamation

he then capped off his night with a 2-run dinger to ice the game.
not too shabby for a back-up outfielder.

sawx have won 28 of their first 40, and hold a 9.5 game lead on NYY...

That was exactly my thought when I saw it. I also saw an interview with hinske and he seemed surprised that he still had it in his glove too.
