Well if you win in 5, you might not get to play in the snow.
That's no fun...

7 raucous teen revelers get schooled
Judge demands essays on arrest

Seven Red Sox revelers who were busted by the solid blue wall of Boston cops that ringed Fenway Park after the team won the American League pennant were ordered by a Roxbury judge to write essays about their busts yesterday.

Seventeen teenagers, most of them college students, were arraigned in front of Judge Edward Redd on disorderly conduct charges after they allegedly refused to obey orders from Boston police officers. Police wanted to clear the crowd to avoid a repeat of the melee that broke out after the Red Sox clinched the ALCS title in 2004, a tragedy that left 21-year-old Emerson College student Victoria Snelgrove dead, accidentally killed by a pepper pellet fired by a cop.

Seven of yesterday's suspects were ordered by Redd to write a "five-page essay detailing what they have each learned from the experience of getting arrested and that they provide the court with written verification that their parents are aware that they have been arrested and charged in connection with this incident," said Suffolk District Attorney's Office spokesman Jake Wark.

Redd also ordered that they stay away from Fenway Park for the duration of the World Series and told them their parents had to sign the essays for his approval at their next court date in November.

How much ya guess it'll cost to park your car near Fenway Park during
the Series? I'll bet someone charges three figures. And gets it.

I didn't know this.
It would have been told differently outside the USA.

OK, that was really ugly.
Very clever with the rain and all. After training in the desert, they were not ready for that.
What's in store for tonight?
I vote for fog.

the numbers from last night's 13-1 drubbing do not lie --

13: most runs scored in Game 1 of the World Series.
12: highest margin of victory in Game 1 of the World Series.
9: tied the record for most extra base hits in the World Series.
8: tied the record for most doubles in the World Series.

beckett submitted his usual dominant performance on the Big Stage:
7 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 9 K's, 62 strikes out of 93 total pitches.

if someone gets a stolen base during the WS, taco bell will give out free tacos:

The folks at Taco Bell are offering a free taco to America if a player steals a base during the entire World Series They tell me that this has definitely happened every year since 1990.

If a base is stolen in Games 1 or 2, fans can collect their Free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco on Tuesday, Oct. 30. If a base is stolen in games 3-7, the redemption date is Nov. 6.

The taco has to be redeemed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time on Oct. 30 or Nov. 6

Free tacos to all that can stomach them.
Much better game so far.
I guess we all have a new definition for "effectively wild".
You guys are really good duckers.

Are there Taco Bells in NYC? I don't usually eat in chains of any kind. (Okay, I drink Starbucks coffee but I eat at Moishe's place next door with the surly waitress and most wonderful pita bread in the world.)

Supposedly there is one within a baseball's throw of the store. I don't remember ever seeing it.

Like the man said, handing out free tacos between 2-5 PM is not going to cost the company as much money as it would if they handed them out between 2-5 AM.

What a wonderful baseball game last night. But..just saying....

those beanballs looked unintentional.
chalk it up to a 23-year old flame-thrower without good command...

schilling lost his grip in the 6th, but "papajima" did the rest.
lowell atoned for his throwing error by scoring the tying run and driving in the winner.
pap picked off holliday in the 8th -- not very MVP-like.
pap danced around a line-drive in the 9th that would've put a slower-reacting pitcher on The Shelf.

no game tonight, so i'm sleeping in!

I know they weren't thrown purposely, it's just when it happens I tend to spill some of my Diet Coke.

Sleep well tonight.

Okajima: Japanese for hidden gem?

I'll eat beef, but I don't do Taco Bell.
Someone ought to start a thread about how many marginally decent restaurant franchises Pepsi has made terrible, for $$$.

5 is looking right on, by the way. Embarrassed

I'm thinking six. Let's see how the Rox play at home.
Things might be different on a ballfield the size of Uruguay.
