I'm not feeling very horny today, so I don't think Americans are reacting according to their dicks or soft, middle-aged sexual inadequacies. No.

I haven't had breakfast yet though, and I'm very hungry. So I think Americans have been supporting Bush because they've been stuffing themselves with so much junk food, that now they've hungry to have leadership with some real meat and sustenance to it. Americans eat so much you know, and the more somone makes them fell bad, the more they eat! Even if it's just blind patriotism.

Maybe that explains the difference between your thinking and mine.

But with any luck, I'll be able to take a nap and do some gardening later today. Then the world always looks much nicer. Of course, then the reason Americans support Bush will be because they have so much faith and trust in constant growth, esp. when shone a ray of hope and covered with manure, but never really do any weeding within the government.

Well, as long as I don't start thinking about "an outward demonstration that our collective dick is as big and as hard as it ever was"! Rolling Eyes

Sometimes it's nicer (and more practical) to think of Americans are starving for real sustenance. *That* I can understand, and constructively work with.

But we do get the gist, of your "matinale";

A new study has just been made public relative to fast food effects, stating that changes in the brain from high fat/sugar intake over an extended period tends to produce changes of an adictive nature requiring maintenance dosing. Sorry didn't pick up details on who, or where, but i think it was a U.S. study (CBC radio news).

With the transitions in world awareness brought about by the IT age of connectivity, the G7 nations are going to have to accept the fact that there will be huge pressures on them to begin to share the resources they have been "gorging" on, greedily, for centuries.

Before huge conservation campaigns are mounted by the super consuming societies, targeting emerging nations, begining to come onstream as consumers, there had better be some internal effort made to curtail gross wastefullness and excess, currently the norm in North America, and some parts of Europe.

If we want to have a world in the future, worth having, we must learn to "SHARE" rather than grabbing the "addictive" needs of a society in crisis, via agression, and deceit.

About why GWB and the war continues to be okay with a large majority of Americans and will continue to be defended and be okay regardless of what evidence turns up.

You know the theory about how middle aged men buy big toys and big cars to make up for their other inadequacies?

Well the USA over the years has become like that middle age man....not so virile anymore, soft in the middle, complacent, not as looked up to admired and lusted after as before.

BUT........we can still kick the **** out of most places especially if they are small and not so developed.

War is Americas middle age crisis sports car and trophy girlfriend, an outward demonstration that our collective dick is as big and as hard as it ever was, and our current entitled all my life middle age group of leaders are the perfect bunch for this type of demonstration.

Like the middle aged man with a red porsche and a cheap toupee, our current leaders seem to have missed the reality that rather than look young and virile again, we just look ridiculous and are the object of ridicule at the very least behind our backs. Embarrassed

So your 'theory' is that America is going to war because of some collective middle age crisis?

I beg to differ.

BPB once the perp reaches a certain level of status and power you don't call him a thief, its not nice. For example according to FOI documents recently posted by JudicalWatch the reason VP Cheany was so reluctant to reveal what went on in his infamous March '01 energy conference is that they were poring over maps of Iraqi oil fields http://www.judicialwatch.org/071703.b_PR.shtml (Bumblebeeboogie has a thread on this). But that is simply strategic planning.

VP Cheney and et-al thought this war was going to be a breeze, but they failed to account for the post-war problems. They thought the oiil grab was gonna be nice and easy, but as more American soldiers come home in body bags, those related and friends to those folks are gonna get real unhappy by November 2004. You can bet your bottom dollar on that! We're sure to learn of all the dirty stuff that went on with this administration as time goes by, but there's no cure for stupid. c.i.

Expanding on Bi-Polar's theory: Wouldn't it be appropriate to paint the stealth bombers a nice blue color since they, on a larger scale, are Viagra tablets.

Well, I have seen some theories that I haven't seen before here, and I like them.

BPB's even leaves a smidge of room for hope, as middle aged people do sometimes get things together and accrue wisdom... not looking like that right now though.

Acepoly brings up that other areas have come alive. US view outdated as other powers grow up. Superpower breakups have brought emerging powers, with various muscles stretching. Yep.

This is true with "terrorists" too. I am not for terrorism, but see it as what a group without usual means does to make a difference. So terrorism as such has increased power as it has been seen to work.
Anyway, Acepoly is right, US hasn't changed all by itself.

Skies on Fire thinks america shows need of some constant satiation, having gotten into addictive behavior re the carbs of Progress (my words). Gotten into non-trim mental shape re its own ethics.

No argument from me so far.

I have to disagree with this.
America is definitely NOT middle aged. America is a very young and petulent infant. It's teething and not very happy about it. It's also trying to find it's will and a direction while trying to combat all the internal changes that make for a difficult life when young. The toys may be different but the analogy is valid.
I'm not trying to be offensive here but my house is older than America.
America hasn't been around long enough to be even remotely considered mature.

I certainly agree with your last statement helio old boy, and having thought about your post, I can see elements of a painful puberty going on here as well.

Certainly when thinking of Bush it is not difficult to imagine an oversized petulant child who has been given too much power and too little lessons on restraint by parents who have somehow confused infusion of gifts with the giving of true love, which teaches self restraint and self discipline.

However, here in America, the MTV/ADD culture, we do not reckon time the same way you do in Europe, and may unfortunately be in our middle age, having burned the candle at both ends and given twice the light in half the time.

Or perhaps a little of both. Or perhaps the current crop of leaders who seem intent on leading us straight to Mt. Meggido are an anomaly, and things will stabilize before we become terminal. Confused

Meanwhile, I will "pick up my guitar and play....just like yesterday"
Please do the same with your drums.

btw I did not notice any audiobytes on your site. I'd love to hear some. Tool and Black Sabbath, well said......btw how do you like Porcupine Tree?

You've got a definite point there. It's a shame that it has gone that way and I don't like it.

Not heard of them to be honest.
I have a fantastically slow internet connection out here. It takes me about an hour to download a meg of data and it's slower to upload. I'll get some stuff up on my site when I'm back in the UK and on a decent connection.

The difference being that our current leaders display an ingrained viciousness and evil that takes years past adolescence to refine the way GWB and Co. have.

I love bush he is hot and sexy! I don't think it's a matter dealing with the haughty attitude of the american people. I think it's a texas thing. As a texan i noticed there are a lot of arrogant bastards who want to kick each other's asses after they see one another looking at each other kind of funny! I think it's hilarious that Bush is incorporating Texas schoolyard asswhoopings into international politics! HURRAY BUSH! AND YES, Im an arrogant Texan who applauded the war! But i do agree that we are going a tad bit overboard with this superhero bullshit!
