Just so everyone doesnt get all panicky. I read (I am not making this up) a technical paper on the eventuality of a major tsunami orignating from the catastrophic slumping of Las Palmas. The good news is that , because the Isle of Santa Cruz will deflect most of the wave propogation and will refract the wave, most of the NE US and Canada's Maritimes will be spared. However, some bad news about those of us in the area between the Carolinas to Cuba(hint: dont start a barbeque when the siren goes off, youll only have about 6 to 6.25 hours before your barbee will get doused (depends on temps and sea states of the intervening Atlantic Ocean).

So, this Sunday eh? Nothin on TV besides basketball. Im about 475 above sea level, youre all invited over as my land becomes a beachfront.

I just read this thread yesterday, and low and behold, we have a tsunami warning for the whole east coast of Australia, after an 8.1 earthquake in the Solomon Islands.

The first effects will be felt in Cooktown, within half an hour.
