I've been away for five or six days, and upon returning... I've been particularly impressed by the degree of masochism we as a group have revealled in "coping" with the very narcissistic Maliagar. He has used us to gratify his or her apparently insatiable apetite for attention. We have taken his abuse and pounded on him collectively, and he has taken strength from it--because it has been ATTENTION.

Help! What can I do, JLNobody?

While you were away, I was invited to leave cavfancier's thread (and nerves) alone. Crying or Very sad

So I packed my belongings, and quietly moved west to start all over again, in another thread, without any "baggage" from the past.

But all of a sudden, while I was just minding my own business, hordes of blood-thirsty barbarians appeared from nowhere. They came with sticks and stones, eager to engage me and prove once and for all how terribly wrong I am.

The "irking" thread remained barely alive for a few hours, and its last breaths touched on the meaning of my departure. Then, it faded away.

Now the unruly mob is hijacking my new thread... and I fear that I'll be blamed once again, and invited to yet another exile!

So I need your help: Is it really my narcissism? Or perhaps my sex-appeal?

Narcissism is sex-appeal for yourself.

I can imagine few things that would actually make me feel some sympathy for maliagar, but tasteless, vicious, insensitive, and (as far as I know) groundless imputations like this might just qualify. Try to keep your fag-baiting out of these discussions, dyslexia, it has no place in any kind of intelligent discourse.

I must say I have to agree with joe -- that's really over-the-top, kind of kicking someone when they're down. Of course, one has to realize re JL's comment that masochism almost necessarily requires a sadist present.

(Even though I suspect it was meant as flippant humor, it's still a low blow).

Why don't you learn what forums like this are all about before shooting off your mouth so inappropriately, Maliagar.

In another thread, you went through all this "poor me" nonsense and charged people with stalking you.

A2K is a discussion forum. People go to threads that appeal to them and discuss the issues at hand.

Nobody is stalking you -- and they are not chasing after you because of any imagined sex appeal.

Folks are entering interesting threads -- and if they happen to encounter you and one of your logic-mangled comments -- they respond.

Get over it! The forum is working exactly as it was designed to work.

If you want one where you can determine who can say what and where -- start your own forum.

And you ought really to keep in mind that cry babies always get picked on more than people who show spine.

I gotta say LW and Joe have a point there ... maliagar, while, as evidenced by his interactions here on A2K, may be prone to repetitious, pedantic, circumlocutious, theologically tainted argument, he well could be otherwise an OK sort of person. He might even make a decent drinkin' partner, or fishin' buddy ... as long as certain topics of conversation could be avoided. Hell, to this day some of my best freinds are Jebbies.

Gawd, I'm glad you decided to pack in here, Frank. You don't take any flack from those who want to come aboard straffing the site with their own skewed agenda.

I have religious friends and I totally avoid the subject as they totally avoid it with me. We've had some good times together. It doesn't negate that maliagar is basically chasing his own tail here and the perceived slings and arrows will never make him into St. Sebastian.

I think timber has maliagar tagged right on the money; he seems like a pretty decent kind of guy who rarely attacks any one individual, and his feelings of persecution complex is probably justified. If maliagar's primary contribution to A2k is his belief system, and we all have one, we understand a very narrow part of this individual, and to come to conclusions about the whole person would be unfair. Heck, all my siblings are christians, and I know that they are pretty good people on the whole. I don't even agree with them on politics. Wink

My religious friends have learned not to bring up religion with me, they always end up limping away after I disassemble their beliefs from one end to the other. I have nothing against religion per se, just against those who want to impose it on others or those who make statements so ludicrous that they beg to be trounced.

Let's face it, maliagar is a theological troll. He isn't here to debate or discuss, he's here to teach us all the error of our heathen ways. He doesn't care what anyone else says, he'll keep repeating his Catholic drivel over and over again, simply because he's so utterly deluded that it's unchallengable.

Which is absolutely appropriate, given the repetitious, pedantic, circumlocutious, and theologically tainted nature of the "arguments" thrown at Us...

I'm more than OK. Ask my mom!

Sorry, but I'd be a boring partner. I don't drink. Don't like the taste of most drinks, and get dizzy on the first glass.

You'd have to teach me. Leviticus 20:13 doesn't say anything about how to fish, and more importantly, the Church hasn't issued an ex cathedra encyclical with case by case prescriptions on how we ought to do it.

Not impossible...

"Join the Gospel Express,
Come along and say yes.
It's leaving for glory soon,
And the guard is so glad,
He is waving his flag.
Hallelujah it won't be very long.
Beep, beep, beep goes the whistle.
Toot, toot, toot goes the train.
Chug, chug, chug goes the engine.
And we're off on the glory train."

When does it arrive?

Perhaps due to the need to look reasonable in forums like this, a long-repressed desire to make fun of faith (and of the One True Religion) was uneasily kept in check. But now they're all out of the closet.

The thread in which ol' pals were supposed to provide and receive mutual support, reinforcement, and consolation by sharing their very personal irking stories about religion has been hijacked once again.

This time, however, protests are not likely to occur. The moderator, who on the previous hijacking was was so on the verge of a nervous breakdown that he blamed the wrong person, is now enthusiastically participating of the new hijack.

...the double standards of the rationally enlightened, totally emancipated, fully liberated, self-possessed bunch.

maliagar,

In your assertion that Catholicism is the one true religion you make the fatal error of trying to assert empirically that which is not empirical.

ROTFLMAO
