It's like electricity in the air, isn't it, squinney.

Very high voltage stuff.

Maybe you're right.

Once again, I open a perfectly innocent thread only to discover Gus and CJ writhing on floor with clothing gapping open in the most indecent of locations. It's enough to make a porn star blush.

Try www.half.com. They may handle stuff other than books, and if so they can give you a range of prices. www.ebay.com should also be able to help, if you make like you're planning to put it up for either auction or immediate sale.

I remember my grandmother had one of these and it used to fascinate me how her cook/laundress ironed shirts with it, and not once catching her fingers.

Hi Tomkitten.

I've looked on eBay and couldn't find anything but I will try half.com. Thank you!

It fascinates me that your grandmother had a cook/laundress!

My husband's grandparents had a summer house in Mexico and they had "staff". Such things are completely alien to my upbringing and I always find them interesting.

I have memories of our mangle being bought in '45-'46, one of the first models off the line after manufacturing had retooled from making war machinery.

My mother used the mangle to iron sheets--which had to be properly folded first. Since I was left handed, I was usually drafted to help my mother fold sheets. I hated putting my book down for right-this-minute household chores.

I still do.

I wd ask a museum that has household items of that era. But I think it's worth very little.

@boomerang,
I just purchased one exactly like the one pictured - model # 523630.
It is beautiful, and seems to work, but I would like a copy of the manual if you are willing to sell one. I paid $100 for mine.
Thank you,
Connie
