@margo,

What a diabolical liberty, your captain being let off that stamping on the player's head. No way was he off balance. 12-match ban minimum, and sent home in disgrace, he should have got.
The spineless authorities bottled it big time.

Like when O'Driscoll got spear-tackled in NZ, nearly killed. Foul? What foul?

THAT seems to be rather googly:

Bowled over... Indiana (not India) to build $6million cricket ground
Quote:
If you were to hear that a brand new cricket ground was being constructed in India, you’d think nothing of it – but Indiana?

Unlikely as it sounds, the mayor of Indianapolis, the Midwestern state’s capital, has announced his city will spend $6million (£4m) to fit one of its parks with a cricket pitch, as well as venues for other non-American sports, such as Gaelic football, hurling and rugby. Greg Ballard claims the so-called “World Sports Park” will generate international interest.

@McTag,
C'mon!
Wallabies play the All-Blacks 3 times a year - we've seen all the dirty plays - Horwill is an absolute amateur in their company. And...he was exonerated twice.

In another place, I'm involved in a discussion of why All-Blacks captain Richie McCaw is always offside but seldom gets called.

Should be a ripper match!

@Walter Hinteler,
A far-sighted man is Mr Ballard. It might take 100 years though to produce a few batsmen who can cope with J. Anderson Esq under damp cloudy conditions. Or 200 for a Shane Warne when the pitch has been scuffed up a bit.

@margo,
I hope you can offer equally good weather when I hit your country in the middle of winter as we did for those thousands of Lions fans! It's mid-winter, people - stop with the t-shirts and shorts already!

Although it was a magnificent day in Sydney yesterday - and today is looking brilliant as well - not a cloud to be seen. Probably a few sore Lion heads around today though!

@vonny,
Super day, watching super Scot Andy Murray wring out a victory in the tennis final.
A very hot day's work.
Alex Salmond was there I see, waving his saltire.

Glad you had a nice day, and enjoyed the tennis. Salmond was sitting behind Cameron, was he not? Poor man - hope it didn't spoil the game for him. Laughing

Which one? I hope it spoiled the game for both of them.

@izzythepush,
From The Scotsman
Quote:
http://i42.tinypic.com/dewrrs.jpg
Scottish first minister Alex Salmond appeared to break Wimbledon rules by waving a large Saltire flag in the Royal Box today.
[...]
The stunt appeared to contravene tight All England Club regulations.

Its website states that “large flags (over 2ft by 2ft), banners, rattles, klaxons or oversized hats” are among prohibited items at the club.

As well as potentially landing him in hot water with the authorities, the flag-waving was criticised as a “stunt” by some political rivals ahead of next year’s referendum on Scottish independence. [...]

@vonny,
Salmond and Cameron, like a few others, were there to be on TV. To garner votes from the tennis crowd. You don't seriously think guys like that are interested in two rate-busting lunks batting a ball back and forth do you?

They were milking.

What's happened to American tennis? These provincial games they play are draining all the funds away from those games to challenge the world with.

@spendius,
All the world's leading players seem to live in, and train in, Florida. Or Spain.
Spain will be cheaper now.

Serbians, Balkans, Japanese, Chinese now all on the surge. Are Americans hungry enough?

Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Mo Connelly, Althea Gibson, where are you now? Your nation needs you.
The Williams sisters are still doing it though.

What about Brazil? Can't think of an example of one of their players. Israel too. There must be a few.

Mac--do you think that the "Bedroom Tax" is a sign of something a bit odd about our leaders?

@spendius,

It is very very strange. Conservative think-tanks rarely come up with anything having the faintest scintilla of humanity about it. IDS will go down in history with the worst villains from the imagination of Charles Dickens. At least the Window Tax targeted the rich, or the people most likely to be able to pay.
I count myself most fortunate to have lived all of my life within a welfare state. It is fast being dismantled now.
