MANCHESTER CITY 3, LIVERPOOL 0

Well done to Mancini's marvels. A solid, spirited performance at Eastlands.

@spendius,

That's true, but the solidity and spirit did not come from the paypackets. If Signor Mancini can pull this group of strangers together, and keep the bench happy, who knows what they might achieve this year or next. How long did it take Chelsea after Abramovitch?
But I do not think he will be able to stifle discontent among the reserves.

@McTag,
The owner HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has two wives. He married Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai.

He is also married to Sheikha Alia bint Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed.

As a monogamous, anti-royalist socialist I'm a bit surprised at your loyalty. About 80% of the population of Abu Dhabi are Asians and are, more or less, slaves. I think, but I'm not sure, that Abu Dhabi supported the invasion of Iraq.

@spendius,
If 80% of the population of the UK were on a dollar an hour there would be plenty of homegrown billionaires to bid for these football clubs.

@spendius,

The financial structures under many of our football clubs are much to be regretted.
The morals of our footballers, their management and owners likewise.
Very few things in this world are perfect.
Even me.
But hey, City stuffed Liverpool 3-0.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad.

@McTag,
But it's not the City we all loved Mac. It's a completely different entity. You're like a duckling that follows the first thing it sees on hatching for the rest of its life. It's a betting medium.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Franny Lee doesn't attend home games.

@spendius,

Lee Won Pen? I think he went out with Peter Swales, the repartee man.

Things change, Spendy, and not always for the worse. I doubt that Paddy Crerand in his pomp would be selected in today's ManU.

Londons perveyors of fine (and not so fine) ware seem to have a habit of giving foreign currency in change. Several Times I got euros instead of pounds and once an american quarter.

@smorgs,
Love that song...it is actually called "I look up when I walk" or "Ue o Muite Arukou". The English title was changed to Sukiyaki because it was easier for Americans to say and associate with Japan. The English version called Sukiyaki is not a literal translation of the song . Here is a translation:

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Remembering those spring days
But I am all alone tonight

I look up as I walk
Counting the stars with tearful eyes
Remembering those summer days
But I am all alone tonight

Happiness lies beyond the clouds
Happiness lies up above the sky

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I'm all alone tonight
(whistling)

Remembering those autumn days
But I am all alone tonight

Sadness lies in the shadow of the stars
Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon

I look up as I walk
So that the tears won't fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I'm all alone
(whistling)

IONUS!

You've just put it in my head again!

Now I've got to sing a basterdised Japanese/Mancunian version in the shower and hum it randomly throughout the day...

Still, glad you like it - I like it too, seems my brain likes it too.

Mornin' all BTW.

I thought sukiyaki was noodles.

Always tricky with chopsticks.

My goodness, wasn't the world a different place back then. Most pop music was crap, but we liked it anyway.

@McTag,
Things are looking up though Mac. I saw a road in a fairly reasonable neighbourhood today (beta minus) where weeds, mainly dandelions, were growing in the gap between the kerb and the gutter paving. One particularly vigorous specimen was a foot high and there were hundreds of others bent on the same destiny.

The cuts are working.

@spendius,

I seem to be quite unusual in my quite pleasant district, because I pick up litter and remove pavement weeds outside my house. Time was, when even working people washed and holystoned their front steps, and took pride in their street.
Now everyone thinks it's someone else's responsibility.
Perhaps that will slowly change. Wouldn't that be nice.

@McTag,
When you get to the colony Mac send the brig back loaded with coffee and then it'll be just as good here as there. Isn't fm a gump.

Io--have you thought of using the tem "effemm" for fm everytime he revises your username.
