Weeks of silence on this thread, then Smorgs pops up, and they all pile in.
Typical.
What's she got that I haven't?
I think I can answer that one myself.

Tonight I went out for a Chinese buffet because her indoors was out.
Very nice thank you, but not cheap after six o'clock.
On the way back on the bus, I see from the Metro (free newspaper thoughtfully provided by GMPTE) that you can now get deep-fried Eccles cakes with your chips.
What a brilliant invention! An idea whose time has come. I bet they taste wonderful.
Much better than deep-fried Mars Bars, one imagines.

@spendius,

A Chinese buffet, my dear sir, is my shorthand for a buffet meal in a Chinese restaurant.
Quite a few restaurants now (there's a big Asian...Bangladeshi probably...one near here) are set up for "all you can eat" deals, probably cutting down on the number of serving staff, and pandering to the gluttonous tendencies of the populace.

There's a quite big Chinese restaurant in the centre of our town, and the buffet type of service is all they do. Good variety, reasonable quality, quite nice for a change now and then.

@McTag,
Thanks Mac. I assume that's Manchester. There's a world class eye-hospital there. In Oxford Road. They fixed my detached retina there. I can't say I liked much else about the place. A bit seedy I thought. But where's there's muck there's brass and the place grew up as somewhere to huddle around money anyway.

I don't rate change. Even every now and again. I like the same things in the same old way over and over and over again. I have apple-juice, porrige, a banana, a cup of tea and a roll-up every morning of the year. Have done for a long time. That requires a pretty complicated routine.

Mornin'!

My sibling rival slept over last night, she is now on her way back to Bath. All the family have been together for my nieces graduation from Manchester, including my sister from Canada.

We all went to Gaucho Grill for dinner, must say I'm a bit 'meated out' now, I even dreamt about meat!

I've just moved house (again). So if anybody is in my vacinity with an alan key and a phillips screwdriver, any help with multiple flatpacks would be appreciated!

Which buffet did you go to McT?

Talking of my new gaff - I turfed the front garden (well not me personally - might break a nail) but it looks brill, and all this rain (since the hosepipe ban) has kept it going, also planted a tree for my brother, a dwarf willow 'Kilmarnock' which is thriving.

That all sounds really boring...

I'll get back into my stride soon - especially now you can say ****!

Call me an old fool but...

I've got an Allen key and several Philips screwdrivers.

The restaurant was the one in the middle of Stockport, just down from the Library.
You need to be early, or they overcharge a bit. It's never busy.

Have you been Goucho grill McT?

There's a good 'all you can eat' in Swinton, that's about it really for Swinton...

Spendi have you been watching the Aussie cricketers performing in England presently? If not, here is a headline: London: Australian captain Ricky Ponting believes "things are coming together nicely" for his team ahead of the Ashes after they thrashed Pakistan by 150 runs in the first Test at Lord's.
Victory, achieved with more than a day to spare in the opening match of a series being played in England because of security concerns in Pakistan, gave Australia a seventh straight Test win.

@Dutchy,
I've seen a bit of it from time to time. There's the Tour de France and the gee-gees and now the golf. Pakistan don't look up for it to me.

Morning all!

I am posting from under the duvet - on my new laptop, a house-warming pressy from my daughter. And you don't even have to have a mouse! You use your fingers, takes some getting used to...

I am loving the 'turf friendly' weather.

I've nowt else to say, just wanted to crow about my new laptop.

Ooh, apart from using my new washing machine for the first time yesterday, I just sat and watched the whole cycle, it was most pleasurable...

Or is that a 'woman thing'?

I love white goods me.
