@spendius,

Well instead of sitting in your armchair calling your fellow citizens fuckwits, why didn't you get down to the studio to impale the protagionists on your wit?

I've had enough recently of listening to those three, historic moment or not, so I'll get a flavour of what went on from the paper tomorrow.

@McTag,
Instant reaction...

What a load of B8ll&cks!

Words... just a load of words, they all talk the talk

delivering their statements - pffffffffffst, sitting here listening to how they support carers and families, how they care ... protect the health service and schools blah blah blah

b*ll*cks

No idea who to vote for - they all tell lies and then don't deliver

That's all I have to say about that!

@Izzie,
I thought that the emerging one party state which has been gathering momentum ever since toffs and union men used to slug it out took on clear form tonight. The lower-middle class revolution, which I have thought inevitable for a long time, is almost complete.

The election is merely about which committee runs it. A competence problem.

In lots of ways I suppose I am in favour but the blandness does make life less interesting at the cost of making it last longer.

A hung parliament will set the lower-middle class state in stone and then all that remains is to count the days until it disappears up its own arsehole. The Aussie coal ship is a perfect example. A feeding frenzy for the LMC. The beta minuses.
Harold Wilson bombed our oil tanker so that the bits sank out of sight and hence out of mind as soon as the smoke blew away.

God save The Queen.

@Izzie,
Governments never do. Better to rely less on goverrnment and fend for yourself. Unfortunately the compulsive organizers of mankind and perfectors of the human situation insist on taking our freedom and self reliance in the name of making things more tidy - as they see them.

We on this side of the Atlantic are losing our freedom in the name of "reform". An interesting concept to be sure, unfortunately we don't get to decide for ourselves just what constitutes reform. The compulsive organizers of the ant hill do that for us.

@georgeob1,
The problem George is that the complexity of modern life is such that what you complain of is inevitable.

You need to accept being a Luddite like me so that you can address the real cause and not just complain about how the best brains deal with it. They are the best brains I hope.

It's no good inventing vast international computer networks which can shift billions of dollars to anywhere at the touch of a submit button and then leaving them in the hands of people like Nick Leeson and Jerome Kerviel or the CEOs whose activities we are all struggling to deal with now.

Money in our world is a point of dynamic force and not to be confused with the pieces of money you spend at the shop. Leeson said that it was "hanging in the air right in front of me, invisible but highly charged, just waiting to be earthed."

If you read Spengler you will understand what he meant.

@spendius,
I'm amazed that there is no A2K thread on the Ash Cloud.

Perhaps it is due to the sophisticated A2K international travellers not wishing to dwell on how silly they can be made to look by a bunch of experts with a crisis on their hands.

Britain has been cancelled, due to lack of interest.

I've just been up in Bonnie Jockland, and I'll put up some pictures here if I feel like it this evening.

Coos mainly.

@McTag,
I've been up in Bonnie Jockland a couple of times Mac.

The oohing and aahing and the Oh my Gods sounded a bit exotic. The reuptation for tightness is somewhat exaggerated.

@McTag,
Thats absolutely bizzare ! Why would anyone paint an allied identification stripe on a cow ? Celebrating excessively the annivesary of the D Day landings ?

@Ionus,

Cute, aren't they? And they are a commercial breed. Very tasty, premium beef.

I wonder if I could get a cured skin as a wall hanging, or a floor rug?

@McTag,
arriving Glasgow mid September; London 1 week later, and then a week not yet planned, some of which may involve Cornwall, and/or Wales.

It's only a little country - can't be much to see! Twisted Evil
