@spendius,

What is Ponting whinging about? Gamesmanship? I remember when Greg Chappell, I think it was, bowled daisy-cutters underarm in an international so that no runs could be scored off the last over.

By the way, I thought the excitement over the draw was about fitting from a nation which counts Dunkirk among its successes.

I've had enough of the incessant war-porn on the TV news. And the opposition looking to score political points depending how the troops are faring.
It's obscene. Cameron has sunk further in my estimation.

Had a nice takeaway from the Indian tonight. We're spoilt for choice around here. A Bombay bellybuster.

Mrs McTag has abandoned me- she's gone to the opera in London with a chum, so I've got to forage for missen.

@McTag,
WHATS IN THE INDIAN BELLYBUSTER McT??
we have several variants on the "bellybuster" theme, most involve excesses of meat, cheese, doughy wrappers, and fried onions , peppers and mushrooms.

A mexican bellybuster burritogrande, contains some of the above plus several niclear based sauces and unfriendly spices.

@farmerman,
I only used it as a generic term, meaning a lot to eat.

I really have little idea what they put in their curries (maybe that's a good thing) but this one was called a Balti Exotica, from the menu containing "a combination of meat, chicken, lamb and king prawn in a medium spiced balti sauce, authentically prepared with fresh herbs and spices."

It comes with a portion of pilau rice, but I ordered a keema naan too, because I was a bit peckish. And they put in a free poppadom and some toasted nuts.

That kept me quiet for a while.

@McTag,
We have a great (Karala) restaurant in Lancaster . They serve baltis (several types) some of which "hold" the cumin and substitute a seeter Garam Massala spice .
Sometime thay will refry the naan's and add a sugary garlic spice to the fry bread so its function as a "dippy" tool is really enhanced.

I have a feeling that, Indian foods, once regionalized to their places where they land , take on entirely different characters.
Like, here in Central Pa, the "hot pickles" will never make it while the bitter and sour ones will sell out.

What time was that Mac? We need an idea in order to appreciate it in its present state.

What a strange request. Mild curry though, no sting I'm pleased to report.

Today I 'ave been mainly eatin' dates.

Not seen much of dadpad lately. Not leastways since Ponting scored two and dropped a dolly catch today.

@McTag,

No, it wasn't Lance Percival I was thinking of, although he did a lot of topical calypsos on TWTWTW.

England win at Lords though, not before time and thanks in no small measure to some iffy umpiring decisions.

Where's dadpad, and why is he not on here whinging?

@McTag,
Because he is following the captain's lead and taking those three decisions on the chin like the gentleman he is.

@spendius,

Spendy, that was quite reasonable and polite.

Are you not feeling well?

Scots suck the joy out of life- Emma Thompson

She's never seen George Chisolm or Jimmy Johnson, then.

@McTag,
Mac-- I've figured out why Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is so popular with women.

It is peppered with expressions such as "£500" and "£2,000" and £10,000" and "£100,000" and suchlike.

Which is socially acceptable of course whereas a similar show for men peppered with expressions such as "knickers", "elasticated corsets", "suspender straps" and "frilly bloomers" would not be.

@spendius,

Fair comment. Women are very mercenary creatures. It is I suppose because it falls to them to ensure the survival and continuation of the species, and that entails the shelter and protection of an alpha male or a load of spondulicks.

I want to know how Steve Gerrard, who along with three drunken scouse mates tried to beat up a guy in a pub and were filmed doing so, was found not guilty of affray.

Maybe it was the intervention of St Kenny Dalgleish wot done it.
