Five of them must be a bit of a trial Steve. Rather you than me. Two is my limit. Well--was.

I once saw an Irish philosopher (ahem!) asked what he thought about the permissive society.

He replied that it should have got going earlier.

Oh you joyful throng of happy Easter tweeters.

Clarkson, the CO2 pump, wrote-

Quote:
A bestselling American book called The Geography of Bliss suggests that British people are unified by a general grumpiness. Eric Weiner, the author, says we don't just enjoy misery; we get off on it. "For the British, happiness is a transatlantic import. And by transatlantic, they mean American. And by American, they mean silly, infantile drivel. Britain is a great place for grumps and most Brits, I suspect, derive a perverse pleasure from their grumpiness.

I'm the only real Brit on here. You lot are just a bunch of half-baked Yanks and just as brittle.

Question for smorgs and DP-

What's the first thing that comes into your head when you see Mr Obama's ears?

Highly questionable assumption...

Does it boost your ego, as it seems?

Yeah. Why not? Do you traduce your's. You shouldn't do that mate. It leads to all sorts of funny stuff like not being able to go with Brit pub culture and being all shy and timid and bashful and blushing and demure and mauvaise honte.

Strut your stuff old boy. Nobody else will. 'Cept yer Mum maybe.

If all your profound cogitations lead to such vain and fruitless assertions, Spendi, I shouldn't trust you as a pyschologist..

Can you try a bit harder?

I used to know a psychologist but he started avoiding me for some reason. He was a D.H. Lawrence fan so that is probably the explanation.

And you have to be really well read to get that joke. It's out of a biography of the Divine Marquis.

I see a more prosaic and unglamorous reason, given D.H. Lawrence inclinations...

'How nice for Mrs Obama, something to get a grip of.'

Shut it spends, I'm way more British than you...

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I'm under a lot of stress (but handling it like a true blonde). Flat pack furniture isn't helping...
