Last week i bought 40 spanish onions for my art, and today I decided I don't need them.

Chop them up and put them in the pressure cooker with lentils, cabbage, celery, some tomatoes, some celariac, any spice you care to choose and some salt a pepper to taste. Half fill with water and pop it on the stove and hey-presto, in less than half-an-hour you have a mush for the liquidiser and after that a nourishing soup to go with a wholemeal crusty cob, oven warmed and lashed with soya margarine, will appear on your decorative soup-plate which will bring a rosy glow to your cheeks and put a sparkle in your eyes.

I go for spendi's recipe except for the plastic stuff he suggests putting on the bread. Better no spread than that, good honest butter is the British product of choice.

Clary-

Soya is nutritious. But I agree- that's nice too especially garlic crusties too hot to hold. Butter is best for sure but it's for those who like to live dangerously.

Actually Clary I did do the lashings of melting butter but thought better of it as I didn't want to recommend to Queenie what Government health advisers consider unsuitable.

Queenie- what artwork was proposed that needed 12 onions? Could it have been tying them in pairs on a washing line insterspaced with ladies underwear and capturing the subtle juxtaposition on film or canvas? A minor feminist mistresspiece.

Well if you really want to know, my project is on the simplification of organic form, and I had a vision of onions with lightbulbs in, until I realised that this would only be highlighting their natural beauty, and not reducing their shape.
I am going to sew into them now I think.
Nice recipe though, and of course it would have to be soya margarine, because I can't eat dairy.

I knew a chef once who had a vision. He said it popped in his head like an onion.

How about hitting one or two with a large mallet, then spraying the result with some form of preservative.

Hey great my prayers are answered I followed my own link to BBC Food which I had supplied to that sarky individual Farmerman and lo and behold they now supply short videos to help you work through their recipes so who needs a Delia or a cooking holiday in Bologna you can do it all right here folks so whoopee but I'll need to buy bigger trousers.

That's really bourgeoise Mathos. And exemplary male chauvinist piggery.

You get dressed up for the ladies. Let's see some real sex.Are you not aware that the Pope arranged all such conveniences for you a long time ago.
