We´re thinking of getting a new car, a replacement for a ´97 (Suzuki) Vitara. We looked at the brand new for this year Daihatsu New Terrios. It has a lot going for it: full time four wheel drive, ABS brakes and airbag but I wonder about suspencion travel (the old Terrios was reputed to have a jarring ride on unpaved roads) and power to pass a slow moving dump truck on our steep mountain road. With 105 HP it has the same (under) power to weight ratio as the Vitara. The other choice is an old technology but rugged and powerfull Mitsubishi Montero V6. No airbag, ABS or fulltime four wheel drive but 148 HP and a local reputation for being rugged and durable and with good suspencion travel on unpaved roads. Both are the same price but I think the Montero is more car for the money despite the goodies that come on the Daihatsu. So hmmm...what do you think?
Thanks for the bump. Went for the Mitsubishi:
...but the seat position is too high and too close. Didn´t realize before the purchase. Think I can fix it though.
This was the alternative:
Daihatsu New Terios, called Okii here.
