My new hobby: Spamku

Reply Sun 25 Feb, 2007 06:07 pm
I hope this doesn't out me as mentally ill or anything but lately I have taken to devising haiku out of the spam mail headlines in my bulk mail file.

Here's today's:

Go in celluloid
Go chromatic by nutcrack
Is hill a go nymph?

I cheated just a little by combinding two (is hill and a go nymph) and by adding a question mark but they are otherwise unchanged.

Do you have some spamku to share with me?

a cramp , circumvent
nicosia may gander
ding ! dwight in washboard

The first and last lines are split from a single subject, the middle one is extracted from another subject (entire one: a nicosia may gander be bathurst try mcknight a aloud)

I like "nicosia may gander." Could be an Emo band name, or something.

Cool I wanna play, I wanna play! But I just deleted scads of spam mail before I opened this thread. Maybe tomorrow.

I also have a thing about the sender names. It's possible, but I really don't think there are people out there called Habibi MacDonald, or Nefrosuto Smith. Just guessing.

Welcome, Tico! I can't wait to see your spamku.

Since I've discovered spamku I selectively delete spam so my box doesn't get overwhelmed.

I wonder if they use a random word generator to come up with those subject lines. Some of them are really fascinating.

I don't get that many interesting names. How sad.

The best one I have right now is Buck Claudius. He sounds like a porn star but I think he wants to give me a home makeover because his subject is "renovate fashionably"

I might need someone to fill me in on haiku rules <-- poetically challenged. But here's some that have popped up since I first posted:

real Viagra
James Brown band members perform
Fish Dinner Dance

Seeing James Brown preform the fish dinner dance would indeed be real viagra.

We play fast and loose with the rules around here but typical haiku has 5 syllables in the first line, then seven, the five again. Spamku is not typical haiku so just have fun instead!

<whispers - I can't play because I don't get spam yet on this computer. I might need a spam loan - but not the real thing, of course. Although I could probably use what looks like Thai spam to do some kind of arty construction. I can't report that, as for some reason a2k doesn't recognize my reports (yes, I've tried Help; it can seemingly only be fixed for a short time. I'm hoping it will be fixed more thoroughly when I get a new email purveyor)>

A spam loan can only be made with considerable interest. Can you afford our rates?

Of course, there is always black market spam, but, you know, it's still going to cost you.

Today's entry:
