You're right. I could probably benefit.

The problem with a kid having "a whole other family" is that they believe that family will be the same as the one they are living in.

I handled it better this time than I did when the "I hate you. I'm going to live with XXXXXX" happened earlier in the week.

That day I just cried and cried.

Mo actually seemed contrite upon his return home this evening after I offered him run-away advice and "helped" him on his journey.

Progress is an iffy thing.

A how to handle it when your six year old runs away from home thread might be in order but I'm to exhausted to contemplate it tonight.

Boomer, if it's any consolation I think you handled the running away from home bit just fine. I helped my oldest once (he was 4) with many suggestions (delaying tactic) and when lunch rolled around he decided to stay for that. Then a friend turned up and plans for the great escape were abandoned. I don't know where he planned to go or what I'd have done if he'd started the journey.

Glad my thoughts were helpful. T'ai Chi's a great stress reliever and easy on the joints (but Karate or Ju Jitsu will make you feel more powerful Very Happy ).
