Singing in a monologue

I auditioning to study performing arts at college, i havebeen asked to perform a monologue, woud it be ok if i sang part of it?

Did you get any guidelines as to the nature of your presentation? You might want to check first. If I were auditioning you, I think that showing off your singing talent would be a wonderful idea, but I am not the one conducting the audition.
