Hello,
Does anybody know of a good book on the history of the Medici family? I don't care how much it costs, and I would like it to have pictures too. I don't mind a good set either or more than one with different authors as long as I get a complete history of them.
I posted here because they were famous art patrons.
Thank you,
AE
The Rise and Fall of the House of Medici by Christopher Hibbert
This is not the book you want, from your description and some of the comments on Amazon, but could be a good additional resorce. I have it, haven't read it, but bought it because I like another book by that author, on Rome.
Thanks
Thank you osso, thats one to consider.
You posted this in art but ask for a book about the Medici's history.
Paul Strathern, The Medici - Godfathers of the Renaissance (there's a papeback out of it, too) is easy to read, packed with facts and stories about peoples and times.
A detailed book would be the classical "Renaissance Florence: A Social History" by Roger J. Crum (Editor), John T. Paoletti (Editor).
I understand Walter, and thank you.
